The array of amenities, including dining options and leisure facilities, are well-regarded, with guests enjoying the elegant atmosphere and acoustic nights, despite some calls for enhanced maintenance and room updates. Excellent staff, friendly, helpful, nothing too much trouble. Five food outlets, all very good, breakfast buffet is exceptional for choice, quality and taste. Blu Bar (with its views) is wonderful (more than a touch of class) with great food and style, bedrooms are modern, quiet, spacious, bed and sleep quality is excellent. Marvellous swimming pool. Large on-site free car park, great feel-safe security, gym and spa both good, great value for money (much cheaper than other 5 star hotels in Cebu). Marco Polo is in an excellent location, just outside the City which remains very accessible, elevated, away from the pollution of the city and busy roads, clean fresh air. The well maintained building is some 38 years old, built in a Filipino style, with great charm and history, a change from the glitz of recently constructed hotels.

Overall, a good stay/experience at the hotel. However, some improvements are still needed.
- Install bidet, a must, especially for Filipino guests. - Address slippery bathroom floors, caution is not enough, eliminate the source of safety risk/hazard. - Shuttle services too limited. Add more trips. - Airport shuttle service would be great, in addition to the trips to the mall. - Sauna guests' access at the spa should be free of charge, same as the gym and the pool.

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
I have treated my family at the Marco polo every visit to Cebu. We availed the promo for this last visit which worked out cheaper than most of the other lower class hotels in the city. Breakfasts are incredible with a choice you just can't complete with so many beautiful tasty choices. Chefs are on hand to cook anything you desire. Rooms are spacious and kept very clean by the staff. The pool has to be the best, cleanest I have been in,.. lovely waterfall as well as a bubbling pool and a kids paddling pool. Plenty beds, chairs and cushioned loungers with parasols all around the perimeter. Best part is the cooling breeze gently sweeping up the hillside and over the pool to make swimming and sunbathing a complete pleasure. Lifeguards are so attentive, handing out towels and bar staff serving free cold water or reasonably priced beers. All in all I'd give this hotel at least one visit to see what it feels like to be pampered and respected from check-in to the time you check out. Go on, spoil yourself !!

Some important feedbacks that need improvement to avoid, us, clients undue frustrations:
1) first time in my entire experience of hotel hopping that I felt so DEHYDRATED that it seems I am about to develop acute kidney injury. The water provided is 2 bottles of 350 ml water! When asked for additional supply, the reply was blatantly flat and apathetic - 'we only provide 2 bottles a day per room.' What on earth is this? Water cannot even be provided to thirsty guests! Even one-star hotels provide with at least pitcher of water, with unlimited refill. Added to the inconvenience is, convenient stores are nowhere to be found on the vicinity! Please be generous with water. After all, WATER IS LIFE!
2) room supply is lacking. Three of us were registered upon check in but supplies like towels, soap, slippers, even water, were lacking. Even during the regular cleaning of the room, the supplies provided were for two guests only. I have to call the front desks to call the attention that three guest were registered! Isn't this information reflected in the computers? The act of reminding the 'basics' is inconvenience itself.
3) the staff generally are not attentive to the needs of the guests. They seem to be not proactive. Besides, a smile cannot even be written on their faces (except for the very few). In short, they do not project the aura of friendliness which is basic to make the guest easily feel at home. After all, we choose this hotel (amongst the many) believing that we will not miss home.
4) the back view of Cafe Marco is an eye sore. Improve the landscape. It diminishes the appetite. After all, it still is part of the good ambiance concept.
5) more variety of tea please. The room has only Lipton yellow label tea.
Enough was said, but foremost amongst the above deficiencies is the lack of drinking water supply. So very important and basic but was not met! Just by this, I am disappointed. Marco Polo Hotel is more than this!

Hi, I was a guest at the Marco Polo Hotel on April 18, 2024 and checked-in between 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm. Upon checking-in, I asked the front desk staff if I can have some clothes washed and dry cleaned on a rush basis as I was checking out at 9:00 am the following day. I was informed it can be done. I even asked if the the front desk staff was certain and she said yes and that she was going to send the hotel staff to my room to pick up the clothes. When the hotel staff arrived, I informed them that it was a rush and the time I was checking out. I was then informed that it can't be done as laundry starts at 8:00 am. I would have preferred to have be given this information at check-in. There should be a tight communication/flow of information/procedures between departments to avoid/minimize inefficiencies. The front desk staff should have called house keeping or guest services to also avoid wasting time as I already sorted out the clothes and completed the form.
The second situation was at the Italian restaurant. As I completed my meal and requested the wait staff for my bill, I was later informed that the bill will take a while because it was busy in the kitchen. First of all, the guest/client should never be made aware of the chaos behind the scenes unless connected with the safety of the guest/client and if the establishment is supposedly world class. I informed the wait staff that I wanted my bill since I have beeb waiting a while. I think what is very important is efficiency and time.
The third situation was with the concierge (Renan). I called the phone line of the concierge since I could not get hold of anyone else. When the concierge answered, I requested the call be transferred to the front desk. I then heard Renan laugh and said Williams is looking for the Front Desk. First of all, Renan should have place the call on hold (that is very basic 101). Secondly, I am not certain what was so funny. Perhaps Renan can explain himself....
The fourth situation is room service does not know what is available when it comes to ice cream. They should not have to call the guest back to confirm the flavors.
The only person that saved my stay at the Marco Polo Hotel was Kristine Zamora. I had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Zamora when I had breakfast (buffet). It shows she really enjoys her job, very attentive to hotel guests. She even offered a small dish for my medicines which I appreciated. The small details for me are the most important ones. I am certain Ms. Zamora will be very successful in the hotel industry or whatever career she pursues. I really hope Senior Management appreciates the work/dedication Ms. Zamora does at the Marco Polo Hotel. Thank you

Parts of this hotel are 5 star, but parts are disappointingly in need of update. I was on the 21st floor in an updated room, but the bath was not updated. It’s a small bath relative to other high end hotels with a tub over shower. The worst part is the tub is significantly raised over the floor, making it difficult to get in/out of the tub..
The elevator to the rooftop bar is still not working. I reviewed this hotel over 6 months ago and the Manager indicated replacement would be expensive, but the reality is a 5 star hotel cannot have an inoperable glass elevator just sitting there. The hotel needs to reinvest as it still has a premier location and the bones to be the best hotel in Cebu, but being cheap on room/bath renovations and maintenance will not lead to returning guests.
The restaurant by the way is exceptional. The lunch buffet on Sunday was truly outstanding, as was breakfast. We also had good meals at the pool bar and the lobby lounge. Disappointingly the rooftop restaurant is closed on Sundays and the Chinese restaurant closed on Mondays - again, not what you would expect from a 5 star property.

I had an absolutely wonderful stay in Marco Polo Hotel Cebu. The hotel lobby is clean, spacious and beautifully decorated. Checking-in was a breeze. The hotel staff and service crew were courteous, attentive, and helpful. I availed of the celebrations and milestone voucher (priced at Php5,200 nett) and all the benefits indicated therein were honored by the hotel: deluxe room, buffet breakfast, complimentary room upgrade, full size mango cheesecake, a bottle of wine, late check out at 3:00 pm, and 15% discount in the hotel restaurants. It was definitely a good bang for the buck. The hotel has a gym and swimming pool. The room was clean, beddings and pillows smooth, and toiletries, bathrobe, bedroom slippers, and hair dryer were provided. The breakfast buffet offered a sumptuous array of delicious food. In sum, I recommend this hotel for your stay in Cebu, Philippines and for you to experience Filipino hospitality at its best.

Bidet and Division Absence: The primary drawback in the comfort room was the absence of a bidet and a partition between the toilet and the rest of the bathroom space. This lack of separation may lead to inconvenience for guests, impacting their overall comfort. Consider installing bidet fixtures in the comfort rooms to provide guests with an added level of convenience and modernity. Create a more private and comfortable bathroom experience by introducing dividers between the toilet and other areas within the comfort room.

From start to finish, the service provided by the staff was exceptional. Their genuine warmth and attentiveness are hallmarks that elevate this property above others in terms of hospitality. While the location is distant from the main city center, it offers a peaceful retreat with the comfort you expect from a top-notch hotel. Additionally, their breakfast featured delightful surprises not typically found in standard buffet spreads.
