We spent two nights at Uros in July 2022 and loved the experience. The lodge is remote and set on its own island. It is something like a cross between a homestay and a hotel, a hotel in that you have your own room that looks onto the lake from several angles, and a homestay in that you are afforded a great deal of contact with Iván and family and their community as you eat in the common room and go out on excursions with them. Iván took us and other guests out for a fishing trip on both mornings. While Iván set his net along the reeds, he talked to us about Uros life on Lago Titicaca. He talked about daily life, sustainability, the effects of COVID on life in the area, technology, challenges of tourism on the community and other subjects. We woke up each morning to one of the most memorable sunrises imaginable, and we had great views of the stars at night from the remote island. Iván and family are warm and they have set up rooms that go easier on the Earth—fire pit and big blankets kept us warm at night, we met our electrical needs through solar power, etc. This was a unique and memorable way to enjoy the lake and the people who call it home. We recommend it highly.

This was truly an amazing stay! The lodge was incredible, the view was beautiful and Ivan was a great host. He learned us a lot about his culture, and we felt that he had a truly commitment to learn his guests about the life on the lake. We would recommend to stay a couple of nights to be sure to get the most out of the stay at the lake. You will get incredible food and a lot of great experiences!

It is important to understand that there are various Lodges in Lake Titicaca and its easy to be confused by them (at least I was confused). THE Uros Titicaca Lodge is very remote from all the other Lodges and Accommodations in Uros. Uros is like a little village with many accommodations, THE Uros Titicaca Lodge is 15-20 minutes by boat away. That has the advantage that you have the unspoiled vastness of lake Titicaca there. Having said that, the host, Ivan, is a great guy who will do anything to make your stay special. We went out with the boat on the lake, we used the kajak and much more. The only disadvantage (but that´s part of the authentic experience), there is no heating, so at night in June it was very very cold (despite the many blankets I had) Overall: thumbs up, great experience

I highly recommend staying here, and soon. The Uros floating islands community is in a time of change, and you can still really see the traditional lifestyle here, while also enjoying the comforts of this beautiful lodge. I think things are changing quickly in the area, and the opportunity to see life as it is now won't last long. Staying here is a like glamping, with the gorgeous comfortable beds and perfect views of sunsets and rainbows, not to mention hammocks and outdoor beds to enjoy, and full meals served to you three times a day. But also it's on an island made of reeds in a traditional community, so don't expect unlimited electricity and internet, unlimited hot water, alcohol, or your food whims to be fulfilled. Come here to be here, not to replicate the habits of the city you live in. The lodge is run by a family that is beautifully committed to sharing their community to travelers, and love to do so. They speak English and Spanish as well as Quechua and Aymara, and will take you out on the water and answer all your questions about life lived in Uros, the experience is priceless, truly. We spent three nights and that was just right - enough time to settle in to the island and see both the local islands and more distant Isla Taquile. Another night or two would have given us time to paddle around on our own in a canoe, or take another excursion to a more distant island. Give yourself enough time to really be here. The price is all inclusive, and is a tremendous value.

Huge thanks to Ivan and his family for such a rich, meaningful visit. We had no idea how much we’d learn - and how well we’d be taken care of. Ivan was an outstanding cultural broker, welcoming all our questions and sharing his unique environment and culture with openness and depth. One of us is an anthropologist and we all travel widely, and we really treasured this experience. He advised us on area activities and arranged a unique visit to Taquille Island (where men are among the world’s best knitters). Delicious, nutritious meals and thoughtful, comfortable accommodations... We want to come back and get better at rowing a tortora boat (harder than it looks)!!

We were lucky to have a great sunny day with Ivan and his family during our stay at Uros titicaca lodge in december. Arrived by the motorboat with Ivan, we were greeted by his brother Edan and a colourful double room with clean, spacious bathroom (solar shower capsule + compost toilet). There is also solar usb charger in the room. Meals specially prepared for us was delicious (we would love to taste the local food but understand the limitations) and the activities planned (kayak, fishing, totora reeds) were fun too (: Exploring the floating island itself offers great views and fresh air - unfortunately us the guests roaming around actually making them have to replenish the reeds faster than usual.. Thunderstorm over the night but we slept well with the hot water bottle slide under the 7-layer blankets by mama. Community visit was insightful about the Uros community too. Thank you Ivan and family for the hospitality and great cultural exchange with us (: Ps. bring a local flavour cupnoodles if you can! That is a mini-culinary exchange we can afford to have in a country thousands km away. Pps. bring fully charged powerbank too

This was an amazing place. The atmosphere, the people, the surroundings and the history of this place. Ivan was the perfect host, and a great storyteller. A simple but a good place to stay at. Mama made great food, served as it was at a first class hotel. Don't stay in Puno, stay out in the lake. At Uros Titicaca Lodge

We are a family of 4 people, 2 adults and 2 teenagers, spend 3 days and 3 nights in Uros Titicaca Lodge with Carlos and his wonderful family! I realized that we were the only ones staying for 3 nights, there were people staying for 1 night or 2 at the most, but 3 nights gave us just enough time to really enjoy everything the lodge, the lake and Carlos had to offer to us! It was a nice way for us to end our 3 week vacation in Peru, which was very relaxing and unwinding, just enjoying the nature without rushing anywhere. It is hard to believe but it is true that communities like this still exist at the modern times, thanks to dedicated people like Carlos and his family, who try to preserve their culture. I was surprised how good is Carlos's English and he taught himself a few other languages, in general he is a very smart young guy. For us it was extremely special when he took us by his boat to different places to show us the life of his community, family, people. It was very nice also to just seat on the island with no other tourists with him and have a conversation about their life, it really puts your own lives in a different perspective. Also to see sunrises , sunsets and millions of stars at the night sky, when you are in the middle of nowhere, a lake and sky, it is the most amazing feeling! The colors of the clothes of people on the islands are so bright and beautiful, representing happiness, you even get to wear these clothes! The food is very simple, homemade and tasty! It is an experience of a lifetime! When Carlos and his family brought us back to Puno to go to the airport back home, I nearly cried, like saying "Good bye" to a very close family member. Thank you Carlos for sharing your life with us we will remember you forever! Liana, Alex, Faye and Victor

We stayed with Ivan and his family for 2 nights, and it was truly an honest and original experience. Ivan was happy to explain and demonstrate to us how the Uros people live on islands made of reeds, and was in addition also a good storyteller. Lodging was simple but clean and good, and food was super. I will recommend everyone to choose a homestay at one of the Uros islands instead of doing a daytrip here, staying overnight is much more honest, true - and peaceful!

There’s limited electricity and no wifi, so I was concerned prior to booking the reservation about whether or not my parents and sister would enjoy the stay. I was pleased that this ended up being everyone’s favorite part of our Peru trip (we also stayed in Lima, Ollantaytambo, and Cusco)! We stayed for 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed learning about the Uros culture and hearing about the amazing (and often hilarious) stories that Ivan had to share. Until fairly recently, the Uros community was relatively isolated from the rest of the world, so he could tell us about their first experiences with many things that most people take for granted (i.e. electricity, running water, currency, movies, etc.). Talk about culture shock! Ivan helped arrange for our tour to Taquile Island and took us on a few other local tours. Ivan and his family own and live on the island. The guest rooms are only available for visitors 13 weeks out of the year— the rest of the time, the family is just living their everyday lives, maintaining the island. During our stay, some of the family members were away fishing, preparing for a feast that accompanies the local soccer match. His mother prepared our meals and we saw his daughter a few times. We were the only guests during our stay and we occupied 2 of the guest rooms. Being at such a high elevation, this was the coldest part of our trip, but we were able to sleep comfortably under the many layers of blankets plus the hot water bottle! The food was plentiful and delicious! We also enjoyed the company of a resident cat plus a visiting cat, as well as two birds that were regulars on the floating island. Our stay at Uros Titicaca Lodge was truly a unique experience that I would recommend to anyone who is interested in a cultural experience! As this is a floating island, this might not be for someone who easily gets seasick— the movement was barely perceptible to me, but it could be uncomfortable for someone who is especially sensitive to it.
