We had such a nice time staying on the Yavari for 3 nights. We were the only travellers staying on the boat, Beautifully restored ship. If you love boats its a must to at least visit. Nice location. Restricted with resturants not many nearby but that didnt bother us as it was nice to stay just out of Puno. Staff...

Long overdue review for this place (traveled here about 2 years ago)... I stayed here a while back with another friend, so that we could have a unique experience on the lake. We stayed one night, went out for a home stay on Amantani and left our luggage, then came back for a final night. Both times we stayed in...

I stayed on the Yavari for one night in September and it was lovely. Giselle and the crew were very nice and friendly and gave a wonderful tour of the ship. Giselle also organised my visit to the floating islands and went out and bought my bus ticket to Copacabana while I was away so I wouldn't miss it. The...

The Yavari was an incredible place to stay. When we were there, it was just us and our fabulous host on the boat. She gave us both guest rooms to spread out in. There are tiny, so it was nice to have a separate place to stow our luggage. During the day, the ship is open to the public as...

I read about the 'good ship' Yavari in a naval history magazine i picked up in my doctor's surgery waiting room - the story fascinated me and after i worked my way through the Yavari website [run by volunteers] i booked a night 'on board' - finally arrived in Puno 6 months later i was disappointed in myself for not...

A night on the Yavari is absolutely outstanding in every respect. The crew were friendly and welcoming (thanks to Basilio for an excellent impromptu tour of the ship when we got on board), the accommodation comfortable and charming (beds are definitely the most comfortable we had in South America). They really look after you here - I brought a patch...

We spent a night on this charming ship earlier this month. It was wonderful to experience how people travel in the old days, back to ~ 150 years ago. The cabin is small, but very cozy and comfortable. The view of the city and stars at night from the deck was so beautiful! So was the scene in the morning,...

Yavari - the only place to spend the night afloat on Lake T! On our recent trip to Peru, we were lucky enough to spend a couple of nights aboard this 150-year-old British gunboat, now a B&B - why the charm and history alone makes it the place to be! The YAVARI was delivered in pieces by mules to the...

This floating hotel was amazing, well-worth it for it's history and charm, but especially for the hospitality of Captain Giselle. The cabins are cozy, and even though it can get pretty cold on the lake, there are plenty of blankets and Giselle provides you with a hot water bottle. She SAVED my hide, as I had a home stay on...

The Yavari is an1862 steam boat which was transported up to the lake on the backs of mules and reassembled piece by piece, where it has been ever since. It is now being lovingly restored by a charity and all proceeds go to the final push to get her moving again. Inside shehas been restored to her original condition with...

“The cabins are "cozy." We were the only guests so they let us use the whole boat for our stuff, but if there are other guests then putting all of your stuff in your cabin could be crowded.”
