I don't know where to start in reviewing this amazing guesthouse.
From the moment you enter Kusillo's Guesthouse to one of Jenny's homely hugs,to the day you check out to another one of Jenny's hugs you instantly feel like this is your home away from home.
I'm not sure why Puno isn't more of a tourist destination. I was just passing through and stayed four days, then returned three months later for two days.
Jenny arranged several tours for me, to Sillustani, Lake Titicaca, and Taquile Islands.
She also gave me a list of attractions in the town which included the Coca Museum and the Condor Hill, which is a great walk through the suburbs clinging to the side of the mountains.
Each morning I was greeted with an amazing breakfast cooked by Jenny, her Banana Pancakes are a specialty. A hearty breakfast is a necessity in the high altitude to keep your energy levels up to see all that Puno has to offer.
The guesthouse is walking distance to everything in town if you don't mind wandering through the burbs.
It is located in a safe area.
I also had the privilege of experiencing Halloween while in this beautiful little town. The town centre was wall to wall with miniature supermen and spidermen running from shop to shop collecting treats.
Jenny and her family obviously love the town they live in and love to share its charm. It is this passion that ends up extending your stay.
I ended up leaving excess luggage here and came back to it three months later.
This was the best guesthouse I stayed at in 4 months travelling South America.
If I ever returned to Peru or Bolivia I would travel to Puno just to stay here.
Well done Jenny

The little Pousada is lovely, the rooms are comfortable, the beds are amazing (usual in SA)! Bathrooms are good with a lovely hot shower.

Breakfast was exceptional - bread, jams, eggs the way you like them, fresh REAL coffee, fresh juice - AMAZING!

Jenny the owner is the sweetest lady, although our Spanish is basic she was really lovely to us, she made us feel at home. She was really helpful.

I couldn't recommend this place enough for all the above and value for money.

Based on previous Trip Advisor reviews I selected Kusillo's Posada and couldn't have been more pleased. Genny went out of her way to make sure my brother and I were comfortable, prepared and well-fed. The location is near everything you would need and the beds are so comfortable. The showers were a little less than hot but not the worst ones I have had. After leaving Puno, Kusillo's Posada was recommended to all fellow travelers.

First, rather than the typical instructions on how to reach a hostel, the owner Genny came to the bus station to bring us back to her hotel in a taxi personally. This would be the first of many kind acts by Genny and her daughter Gevi. We can't say enough about Genny and Gevi, who greet you with hugs and kisses and do everything to make you feel at home and help you with anything that you might need.

The rooms were nothing spectacular, but they were comfortable and cozy. And on the cold nights, Genny and Gevi would put hot water (rubber) bottles under the covers to keep us toasty.

Gevi recommended a restaurant nearby, International, that provides good traditional meals at very low prices – we returned more than once for some good eats.

Also, while in town, we visited Sillustani, a nearby village with towers on the hillside dating back to the pre-Incan times. The scenery was beautiful, overlooking a grand lake high on a flat plateau.

We stayed at this place for two nonconsecutive nights. The woman running it is very kind and anxious to help, as is her young son. She let us store our extra bags in our room for the night in between our two nights there. Breakfast in the dining room was served by 3 women in the family and was very good. They made some delicious hot chocolate! We would stay here again.

Great B&B, lovely rooms (biggest bed we've slept in on this trip by far!) amazing warm hosts and a huge delicious breakfast which was cooked to order.
Jenny's local advice helped us make the most of our time in Puno and her beautiful personality made us feel welcome since the moment we walked in the posada. Thank you so much!

On our arrival in the overpriced taxi from the bus terminal (10 soles is too much - Jenny reckons no more than 5), we were initially concerned by the steel door. However once we were inside, they concern went away. As others have remarked, Jenny is a treasure and made is feel very welcome. She is full of helpful, genuine advice, which is fabulous for newly arrived visitors.

Our room (5, a triple) faced onto the street, so it was a bit noisy, however my newly purchased earplugs did the trick with that. The beds are on the firm side of things, which I like very much. The pillows were quite flat, which again is perfect for me. No television in our room, which meant no telenovellas (great). The main power points beside the beds featured US style outlets which was a bit of a pain, however the outlet for the TV was of the normal two round prong type, so we coped.

Of minor concern was the wiring associated with the electric shower. We didn't get zapped, so it can't be too bad, however it wasn't confidence-inspiring for me. It took a little practice to get the water temperature right - you can't have it on too fast, otherwise you get only lukewarm water.

There is a kitchen in the common area which appears to be available for guest use. I didn't see a fridge there, but I didn't look too hard.

On the map, it looks a little bit out of the center of town, however it is really only a 5 minute walk, so no big deal.

Should we return to Puno in the future, we'd have no hesitation in staying again. Thanks Jenny!

"My house is simple, but managed with a lot of love," are the owner Jenny's own words. And they are very true. And if she wants to convince you to stay at Casa de Felix in Llanchon instead of the touristy experience at Isla Amantí, just say yes. She will help you organize everything. Felix will help you over to Isla Taquile from where you can take the public boat back to Puno. There are lots of possibilities off the beaten track if you ask the right people.

We stayed in room 3 for two nights. Puno is high and the air is cold at night, but the beds were cozy with plenty of blankets and the shower was hot. The room was quiet making for a peaceful sleep.

The common area is lovely and homey. Jenny is incredibly welcoming and went out of her way to book us on a bus to Cuzco, even taking us to the bus station and helping us purchase our ticket and station tax. She also has great recommendations for things to do in the area.

The breakfast was the best I've had so far in Peru. It included yummy fresh bread, cafecito or tea, real orange juice tasting like sunshine in a glass, fruit and either eggs or banana pancake.

Jenny goes above and beyond to make your stay special.

Note: Being a homestay this is best suited for a respectful sort of travellers. If you prefer to party or stay out really late this is not your place.
