The hostel itself was great and the staff helped me find a cab on Christmas eve to take me up to Volcán Barú. The one thing is that it is on a little gravel road off a foot bridge and no one seemed to know its name or where it is. You need to head to the Peruvian seafood restaurant...

After the craziness of Bocas it was nice to stay in this quiet hostel for a few days. The rooms are clean and the bunks are comfortable enough. If you are looking for a quiet place to recharge then this is your spot. If you want more social interactions then Hostel Refugio Rio is a better choice.

I'm very bitter about my experience here. My boyfriend and I stayed here for almost a week and the night before our departure, one of the receptionist told us that once we check out, we won't be able to use the kitchen or bathrooms. Gee, thanks. It rained hard on our check-out date but we got kicked out anyway. I...

Hostal Gaia is a very small homey Hostal, with kind staff and clean facilities. They have a nice deck out back with a Hammock and a few tables... perfect for enjoying breakfast outdoors or lounging with a good book. The rooms are very clean, and the kitchen is well equipped. I very much enjoyed my stay. However, I did visit...

Stayed here for 2 weeks in April 2015 while taking spanish classes at Hablaya. This hostal is very clean and quiet. The WIFI signal was strong enough for me to stream Netflix from the common area and the dorm room. The staff is incredibly kind and was very helpful throughout my stay. This place has a very homey feel, and...

We stayed at this hostal for 4 nights. It is quiet, clean and in an excellent location (a few blocks off the main square). The staff was friendly but did not speak any English. The hostal is for those who want a quiet place to lay their head at night. We were in private room #2 which was nothing more...

I was in Gaia for 2 nights in a private room, in the new building. The room and bathroom were big. The bathroom was just perfect, with nice shower. The bed was a bit disappointing: wasn't that comfortable and pillows were just way too small. The Wi-Fi was not reaching the room, but it was working on the balcony just...

We stayed in a private room and it was fantastic and newly renovated. There is a babbling creek bordering the back of the property which was nice to sit by. It's walking distance to many restaurants and to Main Street. We wish we could have stayed longer. We will return! Thank you for the fantastic stay :)

We booked our stay at Hostal Gaia. Never having stayed in a hostel before, was a bit apprehensive. Once we arrived and got checked in, all concern was gone. The room was very adequate, the bed comfortable, the hot shower was awesome and the tranquil setting was peaceful, quiet and secure. The office, lounge, kitchen area wasn't big, but didn't...

“Private room at the end is nicely decorated and right on the brook. More private than the rest.”

“Reserve one of the private rooms with ensuite baths; Room #5 is best, is in a separate and private cabina. To get warm or hot water from the shower, turn on the water only a little. Using the full pressure will give you a very cold shower.”

“the one in the back in the main building was quieter in my opinon. The hostel area upstairs was clean and nice. Full kitchen . one bathroom, bunks and a big t.v. with movies and books available. Free coffee if I remember correctly. no A/C or fan, may need a fan in the hotter months, but not necessary most of the time”
