We had a very pleasant stay in Essaouira, very nice little town, laidback and relax... not as busy as Marrakech, vendors not as pushy as in Marrakech. No noise of cars, truck, buses etc....

In answer to your question about the 4th floor bedroom accommodation, I would say that there is no problem for tall people with the super king-size bed (which has no footboard). However, I do think that the shower room height would be a problem or irritation for anyone of 6' or more if staying for longer than a couple of nights. The riad - for better or worse - bears the hallmarks of its distinctly Moroccan history, in that the dimensions of certain rooms reflect the stature of former inhabitants. The 3rd floor shower room has, on the other hand, no such problems...
