Brightly lit courtyard area hides the musty smell of the bedrooms? The rooms are basic. No hot water for the first 24 hours. Thankfully we did not have the electric shocks from the shower that some of our group had. And the noise! The design of the courtyard makes it a funnel for noise travelling upwards. Most of the staff...

It's on a dingy side alley that goes quiet at night. The rooms are reasonably clean but dated. Lots of ambiente with bits of art in the halls and rooms. We had no hot water. Others in the group did. A few of our fellow travellers got electrical shocks from the plumbing. Repairs were in progress. The rooftop patio is...

I was very disappointed this is the kind of accommodation peregrine selects for its customers given the large amount of money these tours cost. I felt extremely unsafe staying here due to the kind of drug addicts that surround cheap places like this. Rooms were appalling and don't expect any sleep. Everyone on tour couldn't sleep either. This wasn't just...

Overally, I enjoyed my stay in El Mehdi. Don't expect luxury, but the location is very good, the rooms are quiet, comfy and spacious (bathroom a bit run down though), breakfast is OK, staff is not really attentive, but OK too, wifi works well. Good option for 1 or 2 nights.

An excellent hotel that is good value for the money. The staff are extremely nice and friendly and the rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. I was there in the off season and my room had a heater and extra blankets which were greatly appreciated! Breakfast is excellent! The only problem was that the shower drain was missing a...

Building works in the alley outside was not a good introduction to Residence el Mehdi. The initial impression once entering the covered courtyard led us to hope for an enjoyable two days stay in an authentic old riad. Four flights of steps to our second floor room would deter many older guests. They go on to a third floor and...

This residence was recommended to us by a local jeweller, as we were not completely happy with our previous hotel in Essaouira. The young yet extremely competent manageress is very helpful (she even - carried up my partner's large suitcase herself with ninja-like speed & efficiency - instantly earning the nickname 'Super Femme':) ), Generally the staff are warm, polite...

Close to everything--taxis, ramparts, beach, shopping, freshest seafood and mingling with the locals. The place is gorgeous, big room with a fireplace, artwork in the lobby, large bathroom, , tub, clean, friendly and helpful staff at a good price. Perfect place to stroll the beach and pick out your meal at the wharf while the fish are still wiggling--thrown on...

We stumbled across this place while searching for a place to stay in Essaouira. The staff were friendly but not overbearing. They were very happy to show us a few rooms before we decided to stay. Some of the rooms had some funky bathrooms and interesting decor! We haggled a little on price and took a mid price room. Bed...

Staff friendly, helpful, breakfast was basic but ok, rooms clean, easy to find using google maps gps, a bit expensive, and you need to pay for extra tea/coffee, free wifi works downstairs only. Staff mainly speak French, but some Arabic and English. You can ask reception to book activities, quad biking etc.

“Get one with a window to the outside, for fresh air. Make sure that everything works properly in your room before you accept it.”

“We had a room 2 floors up in the corner. It had a separate sitting room & bedroom We found this better for a couple's needs, but any other vacant room that we 'accidentally' glanced into looked good too.”
