The building is beautiful lots of natural timber, doors, floors and decor a lovely Portuguese inspired Riad. The position is fabulous great views of the beach from our room and the rooftop. Unfortunately the owner/management have let the place go. Mouldy smelly room, greying towels and bathrobes most uninviting, stained bed cover, tiniest bottle of water and not replaced, dangerous...

We felt that we were a bit of an inconvenience to the staff as they clearly preferred to be talking on their phone to friends. The terrace was a total mess and needs to be completely redone and the rest of the riad is looking tired.

This lovely property is slightly different to most others in the Medina as the decor is more colonial than typically Morrocan. There are beautiful photographs and cinematic lamps and art all around and I imagine at a busier time of year its a great place to relax and socialise. Its easy to find, the staff are lovely and the rooms...

My husband & I stayed here in late December 2016. We were on honeymoon, and had informed the sales manager Ilham of this by email. We arrived late at night, and were shown to our room L'Octane, which smelt very strongly of damp & mustiness mixed with cleaning products. The room was freezing, and the bedsheets were cold & damp....

This was probably a 5 star luxury hotel at some stage but its now looking a little tired in places and needing some care and attention. It is still wonderfully quirky with interesting decor and great furniture in the rooms. The roof terrace has a lovely view but seemed a little unclean. In particular the kitchen equipment on the terrace...

This beautiful old riad isn't making the most of itself. The first things to note are that there is no lift, it is dry and the wifi is very "iffy" in case you need to work. Our first room was L'Orient. This is quite unsuitable for the slightly elderly as the comfortable bed is up 2 steps with narrow access...

Excellent position, nearby the entrance of the medina, with taxi only a few distance, quiete but so close to the median. The room so big and fascinating, fine terrace where to have breakfast. The staff is very kind.

Online this place looked amazing. And the rooms really do live up to the description along with the roof terrace. However it feels like its lacking in a bit of heart. There is no cohesive bar area and they have the room and the design aesthetic to develop that and make it feel much more inviting from bottom lobby up....

I absolutely loved this place. It was like going back in time to the early 30s maybe and then have it decorated by Restoration Hardware. The rooms were beautifully appointed as was the rest of the hotel. Lovely little breakfast room and excellent food. The staff was lovely. Wish we could have stayed here and in this sweet town longer.

We are in the prestige suite with sea view. Surely the best room, ask for Opium suite. Big rooms, huge bathroom with comfy bath with view of the ocean. The view is straight down the beach and lovely at sunrise. High enough up to not bother with road noise but the seagulls take care of that. The seafront is being...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Sheltered by the Medina walls, Villa de l'O is located at few meters from the beach, the souks, and at the doors of the Essaouira golf court. Eighteenth-century riad, the architectural spirit of Villa de l'O is given by the subtle alchemy between stone, sculpted wood, and the quivering of the beautifully made fabrics. Refined, the modern decoration of the house combines the oriental and colonial spirit. ... more   less
