The hotel's amenities, including water sports and golf, are a hit, though some guests consider the extras pricey. This was our 3rd visit to the Prince Maurice, although only 5 days on this trip and it seemed to past in a flash.

Our welcome from Shaun through to the departure handled by the omnipresent Akshada were as efficient, engaging, and friendly as previous, they certainly know how to treat guests, either returning or new, nothing too much trouble and always trying to help where possible.

The location and layout of the resort is quite unique in Mauritius and one of the main reasons were return, even though we have tried others. Even though it is on the East coast, as its tucked away in its own cove you are sheltered from too much wind and more a lovely cooling breeze, which is welcomed on very hot days.

We took advantage of the Spa, with many friendly helpful faces from previous visits, Emmanuela, Janita, Kushi, with Suchita, Isram and Franck providing wonderful treatments all under the watchful eye of manager Sarika, with the ever-smiling face.

The gym was frequented by my wife, who was put through her paces by Ayush, Rajeev and Miguel, who were patient and attentive, which made her visits bearable and almost enjoyable!

Each of the restaurants were again very good, and although great service provided by many of the long standing staff, Hurry, Yella, Gloria, Sen & Bhivi, there were a number of newer younger staff going through training, who were efficient, but just seemed to need to embrace the Constance attitude which should come with time and learning from others, nothing wrong but could have been more engaging.

We were on a half board basis, which works well for us, as we do not drink alcohol, although the soft drinks can be quite expensive, albeit that Yougesh can produce some quite unique non-alcoholic cocktails and he was worth the premium.

The rooms are all spacious and serviced every day, although possibly starting to show their age in parts and it seems that there is a refurbishment plan to address this.

The beach was suffering from some erosion at one end, although this did not really affect anything and remarkably due to recent weather events quite a bit of seaweed was deposited on the shore, however early in the morning a team cleared it all leaving it pristine and  was also equally good to note that the seaweed that on previously visits used to be dumped at one end of the beach was now cleared. On the beach we were looked after by Okim, with water, ice and cold towels, along with the odd treat of pineapple and ice cream during the day.

If you are looking for a stunning natural setting, spacious rooms, excellent food, but most of all the most friendly and helpful staff then look no further than the Prince Maurice, we certainly look forward to our next visit.

Mark Twain wrote “Mauritius was made first and then heaven, heaven being copied after Mauritius.” He would certainly used the same words to describe the Prince Maurice, if he had been lucky enough to stay there as it truly was a heavenly experience.
I have been lucky enough to stay in some amazing hotels, but the Prince Maurice is the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in.
The hotel is stunningly beautiful, situated on a white sandy beach, overlooking calm sapphire sea, with palm trees swaying around you.
We were lucky enough to stay in the Princely Villa, which was absolutely breathtaking, with a central atrium leading out to a terrace overlooking an infinity pool and white sandy beach. The rooms were spacious and beautifully decorated, each with luxurious bathrooms and the master bedroom had an adjoining suite and pool outside. It was the most perfect place for a family to relax and unwind in total luxury.
We visited all 3 of the restaurants and thought the food and service was outstanding. My personal favourite was Le Barachois, the floating restaurant. The main restaurant Archipel, was also great, offering us A La Carte menus on some days and a delicious Seafood Buffet on another evening.
In addition to dining at the restaurants, we also booked a private Beach BBQ , which was an unforgettable experience and wine tasting in the wine cellars, where we were given a delicious selection of wine and canapés by Raphael, the very knowledgeable sommelier.
What really made our stay so unforgettable though was the service from every single member of staff at the hotel. We truly felt that their sole purpose was to make your holiday the best holiday ever. Every member of staff, from the gardeners, beach staff, waiters, receptionists, porters and cleaners would wave and greet us, always having a friendly word to say, and helpful information if required. Our personal villa master, Robert, looked after us perfectly during our stay. Nothing was too much at the Prince Maurice! Thank you so much!
We hope we can visit again soon!

Everything was perfect from the first to the last day!!!

We thank all the Inn’s staff, the people at the front desk who take care of the golf shuttle, the waiters from all the restaurants, Raphael and his team of sommeliers who made us discover exceptional wines, the spa team who are always so welcoming and of course the people who take care of the rooms. A special mention to the beach team who made us spend great times every lunch at the beach. Thanks also to the team of the two golf courses, on top as always!

The Pension is set in a beautiful garden, surrounded by trees and flowers and bordered by a beautiful white sandy beach that runs throughout the Pension. There is also a little secluded place full of fish and birds, close to the Barachois.

The rooms are tastefully decorated, in a beautiful Mauritian style. We had a room with a beautiful view of the pool and the sea in the background. What a beautiful view to wake up every morning! We took advantage every day of the large terrace both to have breakfast in the morning and in the afternoon to read quietly. The room itself is large, with a beautiful bathroom that includes a shower and bathtub as well as a large dressing room. The bedding is very comfortable and the bed is large.
We had the chance to spend one night in a Villa on stilts, it was magical. The room overlooks a very large terrace on the water. There is also a very nice dining room - living room which also overlooks another terrace. And finally a bathroom with two showers and an outdoor shower. It's a little more very nice.

We tested all the restaurants. They all have a special signature and are all excellent. We have a preference for Barachois but it is very personal because all three restaurants are absolutely to try. Special mention for buffet evenings at the Archipelago, especially Mauritian seafood buffet.

I will finish this review by thanking Sylvabelle, Christophe and Sébastien who made our stay a happy one. Thank you!

From start to finish the staff were so thoughtful. For example when sat by the pool someone would offer to clean your sunglasses or straighten out your towel if you left to use the restroom. Generally, management wanted to get your feedback on everything to continuously improve. No asked seemed like too much, couldn't recommend the place enough.

Food was pricey in some restaurants, but very tasty.

For this holiday in Mauritius my husband and I divided our stay in two different hotels, starting with the Constance Prince, belonging to "The Leading Hotels of the World".
Perfect welcome, we arrived in the evening, and after a very quick check-in we were immediately accompanied to our Junior Suite on the beach, beautiful, spacious and very quiet, with a patio overlooking the sea, perfectly prepared to honor our status as LHW members with a bottle of bubbles and other gifts, as well as an invitation for a dinner at the floating restaurant “Le Barachois”, a truly kind gesture.
The tropical garden in which the hotel is located is truly wonderful, the staff is very kind, diligent and always smiling and, what should not be underestimated, the management is present in the hotel and always visible.
The buffet breakfast is excellent and varied, with a chef responsible for cooking eggs and pancakes on the spot.
The beach is quiet, well managed, sea not exceptional but we knew it, the two swimming pools are beautiful.
Note that the area where the hotel is located is isolated, we had a rental car, but it is obviously possible to use taxis (always available) to move around the island.
Punctual evening turn-down service, only water for the night (there was even a chocolate...), the toiletries in the room were of a high standard, cleaning was well done.
We had a wonderful stay, in a splendid and relaxed environment, finding what we always expect from a luxury hotel: attention to the customer, beauty of the hotel, service, courtesy and tranquility, the perfect mix of this holiday.

From the moment of arrival to checkout we were made to feel special. I travelled with my wife, my daughter aged 8 and my son aged 5. We stayed in the deluxe family room on the bed and breakfast deal, which had more than enough space for our needs, also a very aesthetically pleasing room at that, lovely balcony and separate kids room. Kids club, brilliant, the 2 attendants (2 great ladies) were always joyful and eager to help. The activities were awesome for the kids, tennis, golf, movies. I really had my utmost trust in the club and more importantly our kids loved it. Kids can eat with the club on various nights, they offer a buffet so you can dine in peace :) In terms of the actual resort, spotless, beautiful. My 2 kids were happy to stay by the pool all day, which is absolutely fantastic. You have waiter service from 10 to 7pm, waiters who are just amazing, nothing too difficult, always helping the kids. I was able to wind down by playing some pitch and putt, all free. You have 3 restaurants. Asian, serving absolutely top notch food (great noodles and sushi!), Archipel, which is the main restaurant (requires no booking - here is where they serve an utterly stunning breakfast every day, and I mean stunning) serving great great food, especially the fish (try the catch of the day red drum or Ruby Snapper). Lastly Le Barachois, which I cannot comment on. If you want to chill before dinner, the Lotus bar is stunning and so calm and ambient. I have never had a holiday like it, staff 100%, Managers 100%, guests 100%. We will return next year for sure. Also, as mentioned earlier we opted for the B&B option, the prices for lunch and dinner were very reasonable, prices for drinks are reasonable too. Not overly cheap but also not overly expensive, especially for the surroundings you are in. We only did 7 nights, 10 would have been better, kids and my wife and I never got tired of it.

We invited a group of friends for a birthday event and two nights at the Prince Maurice and were not disappointed! Sylvabelle, Eugenie and their teams were so great at coordinating and organising everything needed across the 15 rooms - everything from babysitting to dietary requirements and fireworks! We felt that they took care of everything so expertly and nothing was a problem. Everyone was so friendly and helpful as well. We enjoyed a fantastic wine tasting in the impressive cellar with the sommelier Raphael, sundowners at the Barachois and a private use of the sauna and steam room. The food was genuinely delicious and hats off to all the amazing chefs there. The kids club was a big hit with all the kids in our group as well.

Looking forward already to going back to the Prince Maurice!

From the moment we arrived at Prince Maurice, we felt we were in safe hands. If you’re looking for a relaxed, luxurious vibe where the staff treat you as personally as members of the family, this is for you.

Our family room with separate ensuite bunk bed room was perfect for our 8&9 year old (who were made to feel really welcome with a personal greeting from kid’s club staff and some fun incentives so they could ‘buy’ their own drinks with wristbands during their stay). The rooms are all set in clustered landscaped areas, so even though the hotel was full occupancy, it never felt over run with other guests.

There’s so much to love here, from the beautiful pool overlooking the beach and ocean, to the ‘adult’ quiet zone with its desert island feel as you can still around the cove, to the tranquility of the place and the general decor that creates a five star opulence but still roots itself in Mauritian identity.

Food across every setting (from breakfast to a-la-carte, to the themed Mauritian buffet) was delicious, and we were constantly surprised at the range, quality and level of premium offerings included without supplement in the HB packages. Same for the sommelier wine service, which was offered with knowledge and without pretension, we tried so many new things and learned so much. Not to be missed is the dessert wine tasting experience in the cellar itself.

The standout has to be the staff though, as anywhere can look good, and be designed well, but I’ve found service patchy at other properties in Mauritius. Not here, where the staff go out of their way to create an incredible experience for every guest. I could mention every staff member by name for the fantastic experience they offered, but Anoushka, Kiran, Akshada and all of the kids club and sommelier team deserve special mentions as well Sylvabelle who treated our family like her own.

I stayed at four different properties across the island on my trip, and CPM knocked every single one of them out of the park in every aspect. Can’t wait to return!

From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, the service was pre-emptive, personalised, and exceptional.
The beach villa was spacious and well maintained with a large outdoor seating area, a big plunge pool, and direct access to the beautiful beach.
The hotel is set in 56 hectares of beautiful beach areas, mangroves, and natural vegetation.
We saw so many types of birds, fish, and wildlife on walks around the resort.
It was such a lovely resort that we ended up staying within the resort for our entire stay of 6 days.
The on-site restaurants are of very high quality with faultless service. The Barachois restaurant, where you are seated on floating platforms in the mangroves, is tranquil and a fantastic setting.
The seafood and Mauritian buffet dinners at the Archipal restaurant were fantastic value - with a huge, high-quality selection of foods available. The sushi and tashimi in the Asiya restaurant was also superb.
The service in the restaurants was superb, as was all the service throughout the hotel.
The water sports available were good - taking a pedalo around the area was fun!
The hotel management dealt effectively with an issue with loud guests in a neighbouring villa. The Guest Experience man (sorry we have forgotten his name) ensured we had dinner tables secured every night and organised a fabulous dinner on the beach for us.
Christiana (server) and Andrew (sommelier) provided exceptional service. Although, every member of the team is very highly trained in providing personalised service.

We had hired a car so we could explore the island of Mauritius before spending 5 days at the Prince Maurice. We were very much looking forward to spending 5 days languishing in luxury before flying home - and we weren’t disappointed.

We were greeted by a number of members of staff whilst checking in who were all keen to ensure we knew what was where and who to contact during our stay. We had arrived early so we were encouraged to explore and enjoy the hotel’s facilities until our room was ready.

The hotel has extensive grounds however all amenities are within easy reach of guest rooms and despite the hotel being 75% full, it never felt too busy, never noisy or crowded. The Prince Maurice is situated on a beautiful white stretch of sand with some of the suites having direct beach access, some overlooking the lagoon and others having garden views. Our suite was incredibly spacious, impeccably clean and comfortable with large terrace and huge bathroom. We had booked an all inclusive room rate so most of the contents we used from the minibar (fruit juice, half bottle of champagne, snacks) were replenished each day. We also enjoyed unlimited water sports which included stand up paddle boarding, kayaks, waterskiing and pedaloes.

We dined in all 3 restaurants and the food and service was excellent each time. Breakfast is buffet style however all restaurants in the evening are table service and a dress code helps to keep a chic and stylish feel about the place, without it being stuffy or intimidating. There are regular theme nights including a beach BBQ and menus offer a large carte dining as well as chef recommendations meaning there’s lots of choice. There’s also an extensive wine list and a fabulous range of cocktails.

For us, the hotel staff played a massive part in the enjoyment of our stay, in particular the guys at the Laguna Bar and the housekeeping staff however everyone seemed genuinely happy to be there and many we spoke to had been working at the hotel for many years. As others have mentioned, they really do make an effort to remember your name which adds a wonderful personal touch to the service provided. And if there is a problem or a request, the staff will go all out to deliver and to exceed expectations.

We were glad we had seen the real Mauritius the previous week however we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Prince Maurice and were perfectly happy not stepping foot outside of the hotel for the 5 days we were there. And we would have gladly stayed longer however our flight home came around far too quickly and sadly it was time to leave.

If you’re looking for an upscale hotel with sophistication but without the snobbery, great service and fantastic dining options, not to mention that perfect beach setting, then the Prince Maurice ticks all these boxes. Oh, to be back there right now!

It is really safe. There are regular rounds from security, cameras on the beach. Even though people outside of the hotel would access the beach, they do not trespass the hotel grounds. Just walk by the beach. I personally didn't see any outsiders on the beach except for a few trying to make a living by selling pareos but I believe that also, they were authorised to do so.

Answer from LilyNG

Actually all throughout the hotel, they have access ramps to facilitate circulation of people using wheelchairs. The hotel have rooms at ground floor level which can be accessed from either front door or from back door which open on their beautifully well kept gardens...some with even sea view access.
