We recently spent 11 nights at Tanjung Aru resort, Shangri-la's delightful resort in Kota Kinabalu.

Dont use the photos as an indication of this hotel. Arrived today and terrible place, with rough facilities and a dirty beach front. Not worth the $3000 plus USD we are paying. No ATM machine, GYM and SPA are price heavy.
Hotel and facilities were excellent. Staff were all superb. Hotel is situated on beach but there is also a fantastic pool. Roooms are spacious, clean and provide every little convenience you could want. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

There are four restaurants at the resort , Chinese , Italian , Western , and Malay /buffet . One main course costs between US$15-30, and one beer costs US$5. Beside eating at the resort , sometimes we went out to downtown for dinner . It costs about US $8 to down town /each way by taxi and it only took aboit 10-15 minutes to town.
