An ageing hotel currently with LOUD construction noise 8+ hours a day. I had requested a quiet room, but no joy. Staff efficient. Rooms smell of stale cigarette smoke, but aircon is efficient and room and bed clean. Breakfast uninspired but adequate. Overall, there are other nearby hotels which offer equally good downtown location and better value.

Double private room with en suite was very dated, bathroom had a damp problem and no ventilation, but room was clean enough and bed was fine. Nothing special and probably a little over priced but excellent location and helpful staff. Breakfast is white toast, cornflakes or cocopops, orange segments and tea/coffee/squash.

Firstly, be warned that there is major construction underway on two sides of this hotel; this didn't affect me on the first day (other than the view from my window - pic.3), but I was woken up the following morning by construction noise 👎👎 The location is ok, it's on the far end of town, so quite far from the...

We spent two nights in Mingood Hotel and we felt really comfortable. The location is great and the staff was friendly and helpful. There are many maps and information what to do in Georgetown and next destinations. The room was big and spacious, with cabinet, balcony, fridge and even desktop. We really loved the balcony and enjoy the views plus...

Good value hotel. Really large rooms and large comfortable beds. The set-up may be a little dated but who needs it when you'll be out the entire day anyway? Friendly staff especially the cleaning lady on the 4th floor. Breakfast is just toast and cereal but who wants to have breakfast in a hotel when you have tea shops with...

No hot water for my stay, bathroom roof and water pipe both leaking. Complained twice and nothing done except given a load of bull. Free room safe and Spacey room, breakfast ok with surprisingly Marmite on offer.

The hotel was in an amazing location. It is walking distance to so many places and is extremely close to public transport. We had a great stay in the hotel and the staff were amazing. The hotel itself is a little dated, but is absolutely fine as a base for budget travellers. The hotel provides a basic free breakfast, which...

The Mingood Hotel is a bit like the Atlanta Hotel in Bangkok, but only a bit, (if you haven’t stayed at the Atlanta, do yourself a favor, it’s real BKK history). But back to the Mingood, in it’s day it was probably damn good, it’s ‘day’ may have passed but it is well maintained and pretty good value for money,...

Stayed here for 4 nights, it was ok but the room was non smoking but had an ash tray and a cigarette end in the bin. We are used to the non smoking rooms in SEAsia all smelling of smoke now. The place is really central to everything, we walked everywhere and only got the bus to Penang Hill. The...
