I stayed one night here and I liked the place. I felt it was good value, the place had alot of character and was cosy. Omar also seemed like a good guy. 15RMB for a dorm bed and 35RMB for a double room. The hostel is relatively small, consists of 2 double rooms and one dorm room with 6 beds....

I got quite surprised after reading all these reviews. We liked this hostel as much as we liked the town of Mersing. Its a charming and comfortable place. When we arrived, Omar was not at home but we saw a sign, that we should accommodate by ourselves. So we did. It was a simple but very clean room. When we...

Read the reviews before, same story. It was terrible. It was too late as we noticed the bugs, so it was long night at the balkony :) DON'T GO THERE!!! Also the rooms are too expensive for the quality , even without bugs. 15RM for dorm and 35RM for a double. LP says something about 10 and 25, but to...

Well, apparently I should have joined and read Tripadvisor sooner. I didn't want to stay in Mersing to begin with but got in too late to catch a ferry to Tioman and I had to stay the night. As soon as the lights go off you'll feel the BEDBUGS on you! I ran out of the hostel at 2am and...

Following the advice of the Lonely Planet, we turned up at Omar's and were not particularly impressed with the double room (very, very basic) but it was fairly cheap (35RM) and Omar was friendly so we decided to stay. We only later noticed the hand-written warnings from other travellers written on the door - "Bed bugs! Warning" and even scrawled...

The title sums it up. We've never seen so many bedbugs in one location. Maybe they are Omar's friends or he eats them. Either way, maybe the worst room I've ever stayed in. To Omars credit, he did refund our money after leaving his gueshouse at 10pm from the killer attack of bedbugs. Seems like a nice guy just shouldnt...

DO NOT EVER STAY HERE. OMAR'S IS INFESTED WITH BED BUGS. I am sorry to use obnoxious capital letters but I need to get that message out as quickly as possible. My partner and I got into Mersing on the bus late at night and ended up at Omar's since it was listed in Lonely Planet. Omar was awake and...

When we arrived at Omar's we got a warm and friendly welcome...... BUT just as we were going to bed we heard the people in the room next door complaining to Omar about bedbugs. He gave them a refund and they went to find somewhere else to stay. We then heard him giving the sheets a quick spray with insecticide...

At first we were happy about the cheap rooms and ok bathroom, and figured we could bare the heat for one night (useless fan, what's the point??). But appearently Omar NEVER EVER changes the sheets. Even though I had my own planket, I got attacked by bedbugs and got such a bad infestation that I couldn't get rid of them...

We arrrived at Omar's in the middle of the night after driving up during long weekend. He offered us the store room, because the rest of the entire town was totally full - which was just fine with us - a place to crash was all we needed, for 25 MYR per night - two beds, clean sheets, a fan...
