I was going to give a 5 star review, after all we have been here for 3 days at the Steps campsite, part of the hotel. The reason I am changing it to 1 star is because of the hotels total disregard for campers. On our last night, after the campers were already sleeping, the security guards let in 2...

Henry, our driver, told us that you haven't really been to Malawi until you've been to the lake and he was right! This Sunbird is right on its shores and is a tropical oasis in an otherwise brown countryside (at this time of the year before the rains start). The buildings are bright white and meals are set up outside...

This was a nice hotel if you prefer western style accomodation. Rooms were comfortable, restaurant was great, scenery was excellent but it didn't feel authentically African. We only stayed one night, but while it was the most luxurious of the four hotels we used it was the least exciting or authentic.

A great place to spend your weekend just an hour and half from the capital city Lilongwe. The food is good and the service cannot be faulted. The beach and views are stunning. This is the place for a weekend of R&R

Beautiful Lake and beach - really enjoyed the warm days but cooler evenings at this time of year. Lovely terrace area for lunch & dining but was a tad too blowy most nights so we had to move inside. Order early as the food can take a while but enjoyable and good size serves. Perfect time of year to visit...

Family room was well equipped to our comfort during the stay, kids loved it. Every year was different but in a good way. Loved breakfast champagne. The beach is so near that you actually hear the water waves in the morning. Not dangerous to swim, has beautiful swimming pool with pool tender. Free non engine boat ride, island boat ride...

I hoped to save some cash by going to other lodges along the salima beach sengabay. After driving around and checking out different places i ended up paying a bit more but all worthy it. The front desk guy named Beste was fantastic and gave me a good deal. I had a good clean room and all staff were helpful....

Great campsite - right on the beach. Good ablutions with hot water most of the time. Great pub (little on the expensive side) right on the beach. Staff are incredibly helpful and can find you almost anything you want or need from nearby people.

This was nice little getaway from Lilongwe with all the essentials but don't expect the Four Seasons. I was staying at Sunbird in Lilongwe and so was able to transfer my stay to this hotel for the weekend, which was convenient and saved me money. The whole hotel is a little dated and tired (so some investment would be welcome)...
