Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
Every interaction that I had with staff members here was courteous, useful, and prompt. Top marks in this category for sure. Location is also excellent if you want to be near a number of city attractions in walking distance. It is right next to the Gondola that goes up the mountain, for example. It is also apparently family-friendly, as I saw some families there, and there is a play area offered indoors for children. I found the rooms small and inconvenient for a stay over a few days (I was there for two weeks). For example, almost nowhere to hang a wet piece of clothing. Food at breakfast buffet was OK. Room service offered almost no plant-based items, and all of it was overpriced, in contrast to the room rate itself, which I thought was reasonable. We are in 2020, and this is a global chain. More and more travellers will want plant based options that are nutritious and tasty.

The hotel’s location is perfect. The room we stayed in was colourful, bright and well designed, with a large window that gave us city views. The bath area was spacious. We have stayed at Novotel in many locations across the world, but This is the most luxurious room that we have experienced.
Kamila at the Reception spoke good English and was very efficient. Dulat at the restaurant, made our dinners special. We are vegetarians and he communicated our needs perfectly to the kitchen. Dulat was pleasant, understanding of our needs and most efficient. The young lady Shuzi, was at breakfast on one of the days. She was friendly, vibrant and helped out with the names of the local cheeses that were part of the breakfast. It’s a pity we did not see more of her.
We made some changes to the dates of room booking and the hotel acceded to the changes and request for adjusting the advance paid, which we appreciate.
We loved the fact that a glass Water Jug is kept at the room which can be refilled from the water station in the corridor. A great effort at eliminating plastic use! Our feedback is that the water station should be at a more comfortable height. Currently, it is rather low.
What did not? :
In general, there seemed to be several inexperienced, albeit hard working young people in the restaurant at breakfast time. It appeared to us that supervision was non existent, consequently service was not much to write home about. After we checked in, we found that the shower gel container was not refilled. It took two calls to reception to get the job done.
What we found bizarre was that we had to pay for good Coffee. The coffee machine at breakfast dished out less than average latte and we were forced to go to the bar area for coffee and pay 1650 in local currency for each cuppa. Definitely not what one would expect from a hotel that is definitely priced at the higher end.

Dear Ram the Wanderer, thank you for the detailed feedback. As part of our commitment worldwide to develop local communities, we are taking several student during their scholarship to provide them with international brand experience and guest exposing them to live situation. As such, some have started mid September and will gain confidence over the coming months and without supervision, we would not be able to have agreement with any school. For the coffee, we are using the same coffee beans and milk on both side, but the difference is a person preparing the coffee at the bar, thus an extra payment.

We've been here for almost 3 weeks and can totally recommend this hotel. Very clean rooms with a great view, perfect location, friendly stuff. The room service is available 24/7 and has a great variety of really delicious meals. A little bit pricey but worth every cent. Overall a really good place to stay in Almaty.

I have stayed with my family in the hotel four days + we booked additional room for 2 days, spent twice the price of the booking for room services. In the room some basic staff from guest amenities set was missing like dental kit, vanity kit and etc. We didn’t complaint and probably it is the standard of a midscale hotel, whatever. The only thing what we asked is to give us extra five hours to check out from one room out of two because of the late flight time. The occupancy of the hotel is quiet low and it seemed not to be a big deal for FOM to give us extra five hours.

This meant that We were not effected in anyway we just won’t stay in accor hotels anytime more. It is not customer oriented approach. Thank you!

A hotel with an excellent location, the name says it all. A greeting from the management will be waiting for you in your room (for some reason a postcard addressed to Natalya)) 2 bottles of water and a snack in the form of apples, Kurt and a nut. The room has everything you need, and what is not, will be delivered to you upon your first request. So, there were: a robe, slippers, a safe, a board with an iron, a kettle, cups, tea, coffee, dry cream, sugar, a hair dryer, toothpaste, a shaving set, shampoo, gel (excellent quality). There was also a glass carafe and water, if necessary, could be collected from the cooler on the floor. Hotel concept: no plastic, and all things are eco-friendly. Accommodation includes access to the fitness center and spa. The water in the pool was comfortable, the locker rooms have showers and a Finnish sauna. I booked accommodation with breakfast: it was very tasty and varied: freshly squeezed juices, red fish and blue cheese. There are conference rooms on the 2nd floor of the hotel. Very convenient for holding various meetings. Coffee breaks from the hotel were also great!

We were satisfied with our Novotel City Center stay in Almaty. It’s a smallish affair with a relatively small lobby – but that’s Novotel for you. The rest of the ground floor is the large bar and further back, the restaurant.
The room is usual size, with modern built-in furnishings, with a simple desk, chrome chair, similar chrome sofa, uber-simple coffee table and night stands. We appreciated the adequate number of electrical outlets. Lighting was sufficient. They had the usual ref, safe, electric water kettle, hair dryer. Outside the room was a hot-cold water dispenser as well as a shoe polisher which we also appreciated. The T&B had a unique door feature – the two sides of the T&B door folded outside and flat to the wall; to close the T&B, you pulled the wall doors inward – brilliant! We missed pen and paper pad, there were no art on the walls, and the curtains looked and felt like awful shower curtains. We also missed having a door to the toilet area.
Breakfast was great, with a very wide range of food that we only saw in Hyatt Regency at Bishkek. Impressive!

I've stayed here many times over the last 2 years with the most recent stays over May, June and August this year. Firstly this is one of the friendliest hotels I've ever visited and whatever the request they will try their best to do it. The rooms are very modern and always extremely clean. Location is great, easy to walk to all touristy places in the centre. I'm a Platinum member and every time me and my girlfriend stay the hotel gives all benefits such as welcome gift, late check out or upgrades. It seems that every employee at the hotel likes working there and it really reflects with how they speak and react with customers and all staff speak extremely good English.

I visited Almaty on a 3-nights business trip and I was really impressed by the excellent quality of services offered by Novotel Almaty. The room was spacious and bright, the furnishings are modern, the mattress is excellent, it is very important to have a good night's sleep after an exhausting day, the bathroom amenities of the utmost quality. The staff speak very good English and they are very helpful to all needs. Above all a wonderful experience to stay in Novotel Almaty.
