I have nothing negative to say about this guesthouse. The owner and his staff are professional but also like to kick back and hang out with the guests. I speak Japanese but could tell that English-only would be just fine as well. The location is great-- very close to a market street/restaurants, the bus stations and the ferry. I went...

I stayed for 2 weeks and really enjoyed my time there ! The owner is really nice and funny and helped me a lot with planning my days trip in Ishigaki Island and explained everything about the islands. I strongly recommend to stay there

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Emix. Not only is it very reasonably priced but it is convieniently located a two minute walk from the ferry port and bus terminal. Nao (the owner) speaks perfect English which is helpful for people like myself who do not speak Japanese. He took me out to show me around the first night I...

I have visited emix last month with my wife and brother-in-law. While I have been to many dorms and hostels all around the world, this was the first "backpacking-experience" for my wife and her brother. Thanks to emix and its super friendly owner Nao, they absolutely loved it! The location is superb: restaurants, cafes, bars, convenience stores and even the...

I stayed here for 3 nights in March of 2014. Really really friendly place. Nao is the host and he's great guy. Easygoing, speaks excellent English, knows a ton about the area (and runs snorkeling tours himself), and makes it easy to relax in the common area at night. Emix is a simple guesthouse/hostel kind of place, with a small...

Central location: near ferry port and bus terminal, accessible from airport by bus and in center of Ishigaki. Nice staff, place clean, cheap prices. Good quality/price. Possibility to take the bus to go to everypart in the island. I stayed there two nights and I had no problem.

Had 5 nights here and have to agree with the other 5 star reviews this place has got. It's small, as is everything in Japan, but the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The kitchen has everything you need and unlike other similar places the air-conditioning in the rooms is free. Although the bathrooms are all share they were very...

The manager, Nao, picked us up at the airport and gave us some valuable information about bus stops and timetable, where to go, what to do, etc. He speaks English fluently and is a very relaxed guy, nothing like the stereotypical rigid Japanese manager who bows a lot. The place is cool and clean, though the toilets upstairs do look...

The great points about emix have already been covered by many reviews. So let me just share a short anecdote to illustrate why this place is so great: I went to Ishigaki for four nights. As the website would only let me book for the first three nights, I just chose that option. As the lazy guy that I am,...

I had a wonderful ten night stay here at Emix. The owner is fluent in English and was very accommodating. People from all around the world stay here, which afforded me the chance to make a few new friends from Mainland Japan, the US, and Australia. Don't forget to book snorkeling/diving trips through Emix! (They can get you a sizeable...

“Dormitories are for 6 but each bed has a privacy curtain. There are also 2 bed bunk rooms as well as singles and a family room. All rooms have A/C and fans. The singles are small but have a well thought out design.”

“Rooms on the second floor have AC, which is nice in the summer though not necessary in any other season because it's slightly cooler. The third floor encourages more socialization since there's a long table where everyone has dinner together or just hangs out. Even without AC, though, you get a fan which I personally thought was plenty to keep cool. I think ACs are being installed on the third floor starting Summer 2013 though.”
