I was so disappointed with Wasuki. It looked beautiful online but we ended up in a smelly room (cigrrette smoke in a non smoking room) a dirty bathroom with grim I had to wipe off, a moldy shower and dirty faucet handles. Staff did not always notice us and usually did not greet us or say goodbye. Oh, and a... More

1. Hot spring room is not traditional but very clean and comfort. Women Hot spring has been locked by password, so safety 2. The parking is a problem if your car is higher than 1600mm. I need to drive around 300m away 24hrs parking(around 1200yen per night, depends on your parking time) 3. The Japanese style room quite small even... More

When my gps could not locate the hotel due to close proximity of the alleys, we rang the hotel & a staff was dispatched to 'find' us. He ran almost 100m, saw us, then guided our car to the hotel car park. Kudos! We like the modern touch to this ryokan. Front desk staff were well groomed & competent. Location... More

*Good - Breakfast. a kind of buffet. It was wonderful. But I'm sure that western people does not like this spread. It cost only 1,100 yen. - Location. Very close to street car station, shopping street, and the Kumamoto castle. The convenient store is just next to the hotel. - Staff. Very kind and helpful. He took the elevator for... More

The location of this hotel is very good, in the middle of a shopping area. The place is a little on the old side but kept in clean condition. The onsen on the top floor was quite large and outdated, and there was no view. My husband, 5 year old son and I stayed just 1 night and enjoyed the... More

Very friendly and polite staff in a hotel that is conveniently located just a few steps from the shopping arcade and within walking distance from Kumamoto castle. The rooms are a bit small but are very clean. The breakfast is only Japanese style.

We managed to book Wasuki despite an event in Kumamoto causing most hotels to be fully booked during our time there. The location was fantastic, just above the shopping street. However, parking options were limited and we were asked to park at the public carpark a street away. The rooms were slightly dated, but spacious and comfortable nonetheless. Breakfast options... Pros: - decent size room, decoration is a mix or modern and historical - has bathing facility at the top floor - convenience store nearby, lot of food choices around that area - free wifi in the room Cons: - walking distance to the Kumamoto castle (but it's a good 20-30min walk, some uphill) - parking garage is detached, around... We also stayed here last time we were in Kumamoto, and I reckon we will always stay here everytime we come to Kumamoto because of its location-right there in downtown Kumamoto city Kamitori shopping street. The staff are nice and friendly, and breakfast buffet has a generous selection but it does get abit boring if you stay for a week... More
