First went here 20 years ago and it was newly opened with an amazing onsen overlooking the river. It is still just as nice and homey as back then. A bit of a hike from the train stations (JR and Asakusa) but well worth it. Not a terribly long hike to Toshugu and all of its wonders. The trail behind...

Along with our friends, we were the only guests the second night of our stay, although there were others on the first night. Location is peaceful and near the sites but a bus ride or long walk from town. This meant a long trek for dinner as the place only did evening meals on Saturday. Enjoyed the onsen which unusually...

The tourist information center in Nikko station recommended here, so we stayed here without any information, and it was mistake. I visited here with my mother and she said the room was not clean at all. At first to me it looked okay, but later my mother said she saw a cockroach between the blankets. Ewwwww. What a terrible hotel....

We enjoyed our stay here quite a bit. The hotel staff were very welcoming and helpful. We stayed in the Japanese room which was quite comfortable. The futons were thick enough that no one complained at all in the morning of being stiff and the room was a good size for the four of us. We opened the window to...

Go for the location of this Inn, but beware the hotel itself feels a little tired. There is musty smell and the room we had had no charm or class (western style). The breakfast is worth buying and a value (because it may be hard to find anything better near by). The english speaking hotel staff are very friendly and...

Really nice. They had lots of information on local sights. We stayed in the Japanese style room with tatami mats and futons which were actually really comfortable. Quite a large room even for three of us. Nice clean bathroom as well. Breakfast was nice. Short walk to the bus stop and right on the river. Nice little indoor onsen too.

Stayed for a night. Very nice ryokan. Quiet, off the beaten track. Room faced the river so had the sound of rushing water all night. Had dinner at the main building too - good nabe with some wagyu beef plus other stuff in it. You will need an umbrella to get there if it is raining. Later than night there...

It was a beautiful drive up to this quaint B&B style Ryokan. Our family of four (with twin 2-year olds) elected to stay at the annex because they have in-room bathrooms, but we could still get tatami mats and futons, something we had not done before. The rooms is very basic, but comfortable. We have everything we need. Wifi, TV,...

Rooms (japanese) are basic ( in comparison to other ryokan I've been to) and small and the hotel is quite far from the train station ( you need to take a bus and walk 10 minor take a taxi). It s also quite far to restaurants ( at least a 25 min walk) but some evenings you can eat at...

We spent here for one night. It's quite difficult to find without using GPS. No sign for direction and the street is so quite that you are unable to ask other people for direction too. We stayed in the River view room. It's beautiful and the Onsen is private. You can lock the room for 20 minutes. The time is...
