Fantastic staff, clean and neat. Comfortable futons and great traditional Japanese food. And our hostess was kind enough to notice that my family were taking some strain with the traditional food and offered us a Western breakfast alternative on the last day :) . The gardens, stream flowing past the outdoor hot spring, view of the mountainside and flowers in...

We stayed in this ryokan for 1 night and it was a wonderful experience. The weather was rainy, so we didn't get to enjoy an outdoor hot spring bath, but we still had the most relaxing time. The staff were so helpful with local travel, telling us which bus to get to Motohakone/Lake Ashi. In hindsight, we should have stayed...

This was a great experience for travelers who want to experience a traditional Ryokan in a serene setting. Looking at other reviews - those who have negative experiences generally came in with the impression that this will be a mid range to luxury hotel. It's not. It's more of a serene resort with indoor and outdoor hot baths with traditional...

We had a wonderful stay of two nights in this traditional Ryokan. Our hostess didn't speak great English, however, my Japanese covers the difference. In fact, Our hostesses lack of English only added to the wonderful situation. We booked the onset for a private bath, which was just perfect. You expect great service, ambience and a "step-back-in-time" with a Ryokan....Kijitei...

We booked this ryokan for 2 nights and included the full board bf and dinner. The overall ambience of the resort was nice and warm, though the place looks a little but worn. There was an indoor onsen as well as one which was outdoor (can be reserved for private use after 7pm). The kaiseki meal for our first night...

We had one lovely night stay with Hoeiso Ryokan and it's a wonderful & memorable trip & stay in Hakone & Hoeiso. The Ryokan gives a very traditional Japanese style feeling yet very comfortable. We enjoy the private outdoor onsen at night as well as the male & female indoor onsen. This is the first time me & my hubby...

Hoeiso was relaxed, uncrowded, and the Ryokan experience is great! The food is amazing and the staff are wonderful. The onsen (baths) facility is clean and in perfect shape - indoor and outdoor baths available.

We are staying at Hoeiso at the moment. As I write I can hear the babbling stream and have a view of the valley swirled with clouds as the leaves begin to turn autumn red. The staff have been helpful and kind. Our suite is comfortable, clean and spacious. Our meals served in room have been delicious but have not...

It was a great ryokan experience. The ryokan is located in the hills and is surrounded by forests so is very peaceful and quiet. There are both indoor and outdoor hot springs. It is possible to book a private session in the outdoor onsen as well. The food is all traditional Japanese and is served to you in your room.

I'll just put down straight facts. Not any opinion piece I usually write about. The location of the ryokan isn't the best nor worse. It's about a 15 minute bus ride from the station. Unfortunately there are no stations within walking distance. Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly staff and had us wait at the lobby for 10 minutes...
