The corridor on my level reeked of smoke stench. I had a non-smoking room and when I stepped into the room, it reeked of smoke stench! and an empty beer can under the bed! Clearly they didn't housekeep. I went down to ask for a change and the receptionist said I would have to

I recently booked this hotel/onsen resort as a special treat at the end of a 3 week trip in Japan. The location just across from the Hakone-Yumato station was very convenient. I booked the room to include dinner and breakfast. Our dinner was a wonderful multi-course Japanese

Personally I think you should not spend all 3 nights in Hakone and instead spend 1 night in Kawaguchiko area at least. No doubt Hakone is nice but I personally feel Kawaguchiko is a must visit. Nothing beats the feeling of waking up to the view of Mount Fuji. The beauty is something that can't be described and only through experience. Yumoto Fujiya is good because its just next to the train station which is very convenient for you to do the sightseeing route of Hakone area. I suppose moving hotels/ryokans is a good idea but only if your aim is to spend most of the day outside experiencing the various different areas. If you plan to truly enjoy the hotel/ryokan then moving to different hotels on each night is definitely something not worth doing as by the time you check in you've already lost half a day or so.

Does this Hotel have a view of Mnt.Fuji? Thank you
The hotel is near the train station, far away from the Mt. Fuji. Therefore, you cannot see the Mt. Fuji from the hotel. If you follow the tourist map to do a day tour of the area, you may consider to go to the Lake Ashinoko where you can see the Mt. Fuji. Actually I was told by a friend in Japan that it is the best place to see the Mt. Fuji without going to high altitude.
