I completely enjoyed my stay here. If you are sumo sized, plan on staying and enjoying this hotel, bring your own robe and slippers. I am 3X. I anticipated nothing would fit and came prepared. Otherwise enjoy the hotel provided robes and slippers. I encourage you to experience the Onsen (hot springs). It took a little effort to go to... More

Although your room might not look out on either mountain, there are beautiful views from the roof, if the weather cooperates. And the sunrise over Mt. Hakone in October was gorgeous, with vapor from the base of Mt. Hakone ascending into the sky. Breakfasts and the specially arranged dinners for our tour group were very good. The room was quite... This hotel was very pleasant, with helpful staff and excellent food. Also, the onsens (hot baths) were an interesting experience. The only problem we had was with the smell of cigarette smoke. The first room we were shown to absolutely stank, really, really disgusting. The second one was by comparison much better, but still to non smokers it was most... More

I and my wife stayed in this hotel for 2 nights as a part of group tour and greatly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is nestled on the hills and has great hot springs bath with facilities for private bath. Our room was simple with 2 beds and a part with tatami floors. The staff both at the reception and... More

The hotel looks modern but it is a Ryokan with onsens (Japanese baths) on two levels. They rotate when the upstairs one is for females and the basement for males and vice versa. They are very relaxing. They have both western rooms with beds and Japanese rooms with tatami mats and futons. Our double room had beds but also an... More

If non-smoking rooms are a necessity don't stay here as there are none. Had to change rooms because first room smelled of cigarette smoke, mustiness and the air conditioning didn't work. 2nd room better, but still marginal. Public hot springs are in poor condition, especially the basement level. Staff polite. Breakfast and dinners were good. Not much of a view... More

This place has great hot springs baths and comfortable if tiny rooms though some are larger than the one I got. One of the nice things about the baths here is the option for private baths. Four are available. So if you are squeamish about the bathing naked thing, here's your answer. Food was terrific but I was with a... More

We stayed 3 nights in this great little hotel in Hakone. It's modern but has a very traditional Japanese feel. Stayed in what they call a western style room, with two double beds, but there was also an area of the room with a low table and tatami mats. The room was quite large and windowed extensively with great natural... More

The hotel's location was beautiful. My room looked out upon greenery. There were regular beds, not futons for our group. There is a lovely onsen, which I did not use but saw. There are private hot baths that did not seem appealing, however. I just loved the deluxe massage chair adjacent to the onsen, which was available gratis. The breakfast... More

Stayed here 2 nights on a tour. Our room was fairly large for Japan. It included an alcove with a low tea table. We both enjoyed the onsen here. But it was our first time so we have nothing to compare to. The azaleas in the front garden were in bloom and were spectacular. The view of Mt. Fuji from... More

“Try and get the best room you can! I say this because at time of booking we could only get lowest grade room due to "availability". However, place didn't seem busy to us at all so I suspect that there were a lot of better rooms going empty?”

“- If you plan to go during peak travel times (Dec 23-Jan 5, last week in March, or in August), be sure to book your rooms at any Hakone hotel early. We decided 2 weeks before Christmas to extend our stay in Hakone an extra day and had to book at another hotel because no single hotel in the area was available both nights).”
