The Ryokan was run down, paint was peeling and it smelled musty in many areas. I could overlook these issues but could not overlook the rudeness of the staff upon our arrival. We traveled in a typhoon and we arrived friends were waiting to greet us. The staff insisted we be oriented to our room and pulled us away from...

We stayed in the ryokan for a few days during the summer based on recommendations from friends. We found it to be an authentic and interesting experience. The hosts were superb and the actual house was great and located in the mountains of Hakone. You get to sit on the floor and sleep on futons on the floor and eat...

We stayed here in June for a night in the fuga room and it was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. We loved this experience from the moment we arrived and were greeted by the staff to the moment we left. We had two very fussy eaters aged 9 and 13 with us and they really enjoyed the...

I went with my mom and stayed for 2 nights and 3 days, which was our best vacation ever. Staffs were absolutely wonderful. The one who was in charge of our room, including serving the meals, spoke good English, more than functional to make a delightful stay. The rest of the staff, especially the elders didn't seem to speak as...

Very convenient and beautiful location that is just next to the Yunessun waterpark property and bus lines. We were always greeted when we returned to the ryokan. Food was excellent and our hostess was wonderful! We had our own private rotenburo and the kids thoroughly enjoyed it; the boys did not want to leave when it was time to move...

Ryokan staff were wonderful! Greeting us at the door, and helping us check-in. Staff in the day speaks some English. They even gave us a map and guide on how to best explore Hakone and be back on time for dinner!. Private onsen in the room is amazing! We had so many baths that our skin were smooth and soft!...

I first stayed here for two nights in 2007 whilst on a tour of japan, with Thomas cook and I loved it and could not wait to go back as it is the ideal spot for touring the hakone region of japan.the first time I went I enjoyed the onsen hot spring bathing immensely even though it was communal.this time however...

Prior to this, went to two other ryokans so in a good position to compare; out of the three, this is the pits! On arrival, the male attendants were extremely polite, we were well received until the maid came. Its likely she didn't like foreigners and there were definitely a lot of foreigners who visit there; her attitude was distinctly...

We went there back in March 2010 but I still remember that this was an amazing first time ryokan experience complete with a beautiful kaiseki (traditional multi-course Japanese dinner) experience for dinner and breakfast. Service was great, our room was prepared for us and the futon was very comfortable. Our room also had a private open bath area and a...

It was pouring rain and we had just walked almost a mile from the bus stop (don't trust the map on their website!) and were soaking wet. But once we made it to the front door, we were whisked in, dried off, and settled into our traditional tatami-mat room. The nice open balcony looked out on a mist-shrouded, low-mountain terrain...
