This ryokan is 400 years old as per pit research. The service was impeccable. We got the best room with private onsen bath which is strategically placed outside with a view of the spring below. The chef-curated full course Japanese meals were an experience in themselves. Highly recommended and I'll recommend opting for rooms with the private onsen

This was the best place we stayed the whole trip! At first we thought we had a tiny room, but then we opened the sliding doors to a huge room plus a separate bathroom AND a private onsen! The river was just outside, so we could hear the water running by at night, which was so relaxing. It was beautiful,...

This sweet, local ryokan went above and beyond our expectations for a traditional japanese stay! For a 2-person trip, this ryokan is the best value find in all of Hakone (we booked the Standard B room with a river view). No need to look anywhere else, I spent hours searching already :) The service is beyond amazing and the staff...

This was our first experience of staying in a ryokan and so we had no way of measuring the room, service, food etc. But later on the trip we stayed at an amazing ryokan with brilliant personal service, and so I am afraid this rather suffered by comparison. First, the good points. It was perfectly situated for our needs and...

We stayed there for a night in a group of 11 people. We booked two big rooms with private hotspring. This was the first time for our kids to bath in a public bathroom and enjoyed hot spring. They really LOVED it! The building was a little old and not soundproofing, due to its hundreds years history. It was a...

We had a wonderful time at this Ryokan. It is older and more professionally run than some but the experience is unique. We were lucky enough to have our own mini outdoor Onsen and I just can't tell you how wonderful it is to be able to jump into a hot mineral bath whenever you feel like it. I have...

We stayed one night in this traditional Japanese hotel. Everything is so different from the modern days but we love it. The hotspring is the best thing in such cold weather (0 degree). Both private and public bath are amazing (they are both indoors). If you are guest, even after you check out, you still have free access to the...

I am going out on a limb and rating this a five. We stayed two nights. The first night we stayed in a room with private bath (rate it a 4). Since there were no vacant private bath rooms, we stayed in a room with shared toilet and bath the second night. Surprisingly, we had a much better experience the...

This was a hard place to review and I would give a 3.5 rating if possible. We opted for a room with private outdoor bath and sashimi dinner option for 36,720 yen on Japanican.com. This was the first of our two ryokan experiences during our Japan trip. On the one hand, the room itself (called the Take room) was great...

We stayed in 3 ryakon during our time in Japan. Value for money this was the best. We did have a room with private facilities including an outside hot spring bath that made this ryakon rather special. Although you have to make up your bed they were the most comfortable of all 3 ryakons. We stayed 2 nights. The food...
