Stayed here a few times when working at NIMS, it's within easy walking distance. Basic shopping centre opposite with a supermarket and a few bars & restaurants. Breakfast is poor, no buffet you have to choose a fixed option like salad with chips and dried up fried egg, weird even by Japanese standards! Air conditioning controls should be relabelled heating...

Stayed here four nights when attending conference. All staff (reception and breakfast) were helpful and professional, even where we had no mutual language. Tea-making facilities in the room although took me a while to master the hi tech electric kettle. Good location for the conference centre which is easily walkable on the elevated cycle/pedestrian axis. Also walkable from train station....

I recently stayed four nights while commuting back and forth to work at the local university. The hotel is centrally located to many shops, restaurants, and local sites. The staff is extremely welcoming and helpful at every step. The rooms are spacious - not a typical Japanese-style room...I loved the leather swivel chair as I found it so comfortable that...

On my first trip to Japan I stayed at this hotel. The staff is, not surprisingly, extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast is in terms of English style prepared at the buffet by a chef on your choice. The hotel holds the biggest indoor pool I've yet seen, but also the lobby gives you the impression that everything is big.

Stayed in the main bit of the hotel for two weeks. It is good if you like shopping as there is a shopping centre near by. really good location next to the bus terminal and train station for buses to airports, mount tsukuba (for a day trip on the weekend), and trains that go to tokyo in less than one...

I have stayed at Okura Frontier Hotel Tsukuba quite a few times on business trips to Tsukuba, typically for 2-3 nights each time. It is definitely my favorite hotel there due to the quiet and comfortable rooms and the convenient location right next to the bus terminal. The breakfast buffet is outstanding. The service is excellent. On my latest visit...

This is a very nice hotel in Tsukuba. It is conveniently located right by the main bus/train terminal. It has multiple restaurants and ready access to more choices nearby. The breakfast buffet is excellent with both Western and Japanese items and good coffee. It is also a good value at ¥1600. The rooms are nice but small as is the...

My first time in Japan was spent in Tsukuba and me and my husband stayed here in this hotel. It is an old hotel, nothing fancy and the staff also speaks limited English but one can manage. It is situated next to a mall so food option are plenty, incase you don't want to eat at the hotel. The hotel...

I was surprised to read the reviews of this hotel. I stayed there for one night after arriving from the US. My room - which was in the Annex - was rather worn. Felt more like a dorm room than a hotel. The person who checked me in spoke very little English and could barely understand me when I asked...

It was a quick trip with just one night at the hotel. Room was nice but small. But it included free WiFi and breakfast. It was a good breakfast and as is the case in Japan service throughout the hotel is exceptional.
