Our accommodation in Kofu city was the Toyoko Inn Kofueki Minamiguchi 2. The hotel is located facing the main street that runs south from the south exit of Kofu Station, and is conveniently located just a one-minute walk from the station.
We were planning to have dinner at a famous hoto restaurant across the road, so in that respect the location was ideal for us.
As it is a Toyoko Inn, it is not suitable for those looking for a luxurious stay. The rooms are small, but both they and the entire hotel are bright and clean. A free breakfast is also included. Parking fees were also very reasonable for a hotel in front of the station.

Stayed one night during the last leg of our tour of Japan. It was the third Toyoko Inn that was our 'home' in Japan after TYI Haneda and TYI Ikebukuro. Clean, compact room with very comfortable bed equipped with all basic amenities including an electric kettle, slippers and yukatas that became our night wear. The room came with a simple buffet breakfast. Very convenient location, just a five-minute walk to the railway station where nearby there are restaurants, shops and convenience stores. Highly recommended.

We revisited Yamanashi Prefecture to visit Sadoya Winery and the Takeda Shingen Shrine in the spring and stayed again at this hotel. It is located only five minutes walk from Kofu Station and surrounded by very good restaurants and shops. The area in front of the station has been nicely renovated and is clean, open and safe. Because of its location, this hotel remains a popular stay for business visitors and the room rates are a bargain. Clean, friendly, free wifi, free breakfast, and convenient. Easy access to the Takeda Shingen Castle ruins. Join the Toyoko Inn membership club for discounts. We used the ECO plan for 300 Yen discount, which simply means they will leave a bag of clean towels on your door daily without entering to make up your room. This allows you to relax a bit more in the mid-mornings after breakfast before going out to sightsee.

Great location, but our least favourite of the hotels we stayed in on our Japan trip. Free breakfast is a bonus, but hotel is dated, walls are thin and we could hear all the noise from the hallway as well as the kind of creepy "session" in the room next to us.

We based at this hotel when we were visiting the mount Fuji kawaguchigo area. The hotels at kawaguchigo are too pricey, and since we were holding Kanto passes, travelling from kofu is quite convenient and hassle free. This hotel is very near kofu train station, just like most toyoko inns. The rooms are small, neat and clean. A very typical toyoko inn setting but equipped with everything you need. Highly recommended for the price and convenience.

Typical Toyoko Inn a few minutes walk from the station (turn right out of the station then left). No welcome coffee (unlike the T Inn in Matsumoto), don't know why. Kofu is a small town, far enough away from Tokyo and the urbanised south coast to lose the stress, but only 35 minutes by train to Otsuki where you change for the private line train that runs up to Kawaguchiko and the 5 Lakes area below Mount Fuji. We had views of Fuji-san peak looming behind the urban landscape from our hotel bedroom window, which was nice. For a good, simple, friendly restaurant run only by women and with an English menu (it says so outside), turn right out of the hotel, and walk to halfway down the next block. Best to eat early in this town: it seems to close down pronto.

Stayed 3 nights at Kofu, October 2011 to hike in the nearby Shosenkyo Gorge.

Hotel is 2 mins walk from JR station. The hotel's cliental is mainly Japanese business men/women but with some travelers.

Hotel is new but with 80's country style decor. Rooms were average size for Japan and spotlessly clean and tidy. Cable internet is supplied with cable. No wifi. No English TV. Hotel has a coin operated clothes washer + dryer.

Breakfast is included as standard in the price but is limited to Japanese style buffet type food. We loved the variety of this style of food for breakfast.

There is a Lawson (711 type convenience store) next door and a Post Office with ATM 1 min walk away.

Toyoko Inn has many hotels , all of similar style and standard throughout Japan. Would definitely stay again.

Staff at reception are friendly and try to help with questions but English is basic.

It's a business hotel within five minute walk from Kofu Station. Toyoko Inn Quality, which means it's clean and the bed and the room is the same size with other of their chains. I like that they serve Houtou noodles a local speciality at this branch.

It's getting difficult to write something different for all the Toyoko Inns that I'm reviewing - they are all (virtually) identical in layout, decor, cleanliness, services, friendly and helpful staff, and convenient location.

As with all the other Toyoko Inns, having a membership card lets me check in at almost any time, leave my luggage there and head off exploring / shopping / whatever before returning in the evening.

When I arrived to the property it was 2:30 pm, and the front desk showed complete lack of flexibility in allowing me to check in. They insisted that I can only check in at 4 pm, although other people were checking in and were being allowed to go to their rooms. It may have been the combination of me being a foreigner and speaking Japanese, but no matter what I argued they were inflexible. I was stuck in the lobby, with crews working loudly around me, despite my fatigue. Japanese hospitality? Not here...
