We planned a trip to this Onsen from Tokyo for one night and chose it because of their private Onsens and because we wanted an authentic experience both for the bathing culture and the food. Our "room" was way bigger then our appartement in Tokyo and very beautiful. We had it with own private Onsen included, what was a really... More

Hats off to the owner/manager of this little gem of a ryokan in beautiful Jogasaki peninsula. She has managed to create an oasis of calm and traditional Japanese style while making it welcoming to westerners. The rooms are beautiful and traditional- ours had its own little onsen and a lovely balcony where we could see the bay and the islands.... More

Staying at the Yokohama Fujiyoshi Izuten ryokan was the perfect way to end my Japan trip, and was probably the highlight of our entire trip. We stayed in the Bousou room (which was more like a villa than a room), which had its own private onsen as well as a spectacular ocean view. Because it was off-season when we went,... More

I recommend Fujiyoshi for authentic onsen ryokan experience. 1) Close to Tokyo. Can get to the ryokan in two hours from Tokyo station. 2) Family-run business. As authentic as you can get if you are looking for an proper onsen getaway from Tokyo. 3) Four nice private onsens (apart from mixed gender bath which is also great). 4) Excellent food... More

We tend to travel cheap. This was a last day/night in Japan splurge for us. We really wanted to experience a traditional Japanese ryokan with hot spring baths (onsen). It was all we could hope for. The onsen was excellent. There are several private pools and one or two shared mixed gender pools. All have a great view of the... More

Stayed one night as part of a 14 day trip around Japan. This was our penultimate night and an amazing way to spend it. This place is off the beaten track, couple of trains from Atami but worth it. Picked up from Futo then check in in room. We paid for a private onsen but not really knowing much about... More

The staff at Fujiyoshi really focus on providing excellent, personalized service to their guests. I was pleased to find that even as a foreigner, traveling alone, my every need was attended to. Although only one staff member spoke English, he was truly fantastic at making me feel right at home and that everything I could want was taken care of.... More

The other reviews have pretty much already summed it up. It felt like a friend would've come to pick us up from the Futo station. Then, entering a wonderfully big ryokan room, we felt very good from start to finish. Many private baths were free for use 24h (or until the checkout time). What a nice concept to allow changing... This was my first time visiting an onsen ryokan and it was a very pleasant experience. We received complimentary pick up service from the station and then received a nice tour of the area. Dinner was serviced promptly at 6pm and we enjoyed an exquisite seafood dinner. Later that evening we were invited to a local Obon festival and enjoyed... More

I really loved this place. There was a complimentary pick up from the local station, a tour of the ryoken, complimentary snacks on your room table and robes and slippers you can wear in and around the place. I was visiting japan last year and I'm a little shy about the whole nuding up with strangers aspect of the culture,... More
