A friend advised to stay here if we wanted a great ryokan experience in Kanazawa. We were extremely happy with the choice. The ryokan is across the road from the station and doesn't look like much from outside. Once you step inside, though, it's perfection, from the exquisite service (English is spoken by some of the staff) to the delicious...

A modern ryokan very near the station so very convenient and central. Rooms were very good but the real highlight was an outstanding dinner, without doubt the best one we had in our 10 trip in Japan. Well worth staying here just for the dinner. Ten courses, none too big, wonderful variety and superb presentation.

Kanazawa Chaya is one of the most convenient ryokans to the new Kanazawa Station. We hopped out of the Shinkansen, across the road and right behind the big red tiled hotel on the right side of the road, is Kanazawa Chaya. The lobby is dark but welcoming. The warmth after experiencing Kanazawa's frigid cold wind was welcome. Check in was...

Our one (and so far only) ryokan experience. We stayed just one night to find out what a ryokan might be like. We had a large room, with both dinner and breakfast included. The service was excellent. We are westerners and seemed to be the only ones at the Chaya when we were there - plenty of Japanese guests. If...

We had an excellent stay in this ryokan. Our room was spacious, beautiful and very clean. The bathrooms, while somewhat dated, was clean and well maintained. The rooms have centralized A/C but also a separate/individual A/C that can be turned on and off. We found this to be very convenient so that we could adjust the temperature in our room....

Had never stayed at a ryokan before and wanted traditional Japanese guesthouse experience. Wasn't let down at the Chaya. It is located only about 100 metres down the road directly from the front of the main railway station. Room was spacious. Bathroom was small, dated but clean and functional. Yukaktas were supplied to be worn at breakfast and dinner. Sleeping...

Note: I did not eat here, so I don't know about the quality of the food. The service was excellent, and we had an enormous room, with a side room for our luggage and a massage chair. It wasn't the prettiest room, but we enjoyed our stay. We only stayed one night in Kanazawa, so the location -- right near...

It's not too often that you walk only a hundred metres from a Central railway station and find a boutique charming traditional property like this. From the moment we walked in through an architectural Japanese entry garden to The time we left, everything was looked after. Loved our traditional Ryokan room. And don't miss the traditional breakfast which changes every...

I chose this ryokan because of the raving reviews and it didn't live up to my expectations. I just didn't think the price of almost $600 (including dinner and breakfast) was justified. The room was a simple ryokan room, the bathroom was dated, the public bath was almost the same as in the ryokan we stayed the night before for...

We stayed at several Ryokans during our holiday in Japan and I must say this was the best of them all. It is literally across the street from the train station (which in itself is absolutely beautiful). The Kanazawa sight seeing loop bus also starts and ends at the train station - so the location of the ryokan is just...
