I stayed here for one night with my husband and toddler in August 2016 (although three nights were booked). We are really laid back travellers and as you may see from my other reviews, I almost universally give 4-5 star reviews. And before you read on, I must say that in fairness, Ryokan Asunaro did refund the two nights we...

We were a family of 4 staying in a traditional tatami mat room - I think it was the largest room at the ryokan and it was just barely big enough. When all 4 futons were out and with 4 smaller suitcases it was a little tight even though it was 2 rooms. It was nice to have the small...

We spent one night at Asunaro in August 2016. This was our first ryokan of our trip out of the 5 we stayed in and is was a very nice experience. We had booked a room with private bathroom and toilet and it was really comfortable and of good size and a nice sitting area by the windows and all...

I have never been to a 'Ryokan', so I cannot compare but i really like the place. It was close to the train station so it was a short 8 minute walk and it was 8 minutes to the center of town. The main part of the hotel was old and had great character, large beams, wooden floors and great...

First off, don't be concerned when you walk through the adjacent streets finding the Ryokan Asunaro for the first time. The area seems dead and uneventful, but you are close to everything. Location: Close enough to walk to easily from the train station with luggage, walk to every site and restaurant Takayama has to offer, and walk back to during...

I can't recommend this place enough! Experiencing the big city blues of a lost camera, traffic and overcrowded subways, we shifted gears here to unwind. We almost didn't leave. The Hida area itself, is the perfect tonic for everyone from the beginning abroad traveler to someone who claims to have seen it all. Think Kyoto without the crowds and city...

The Ryokan is situated a few minutes walk away from Takayama Station and nearby the city centre. We booked a deluxe room which was very spacious, clean and had nice view of the garden. It was nice to have a traditional yukata provided for free. The futon was very confortable and I could get quality sleep. In other traditional hotels...

Very nicely restored old Japanese house. Friendly staff and beautiful room. If you want to experience original Japanese ryokan, but afraid of may be too much Japanese original customs, this is the best ryokan to stat. They are well prepared for non Japanese guests, every thing written also in English. ( the staff speaks also English)

At this beautiful Ryokan everything is perfect, service at is best, the traditional Japanese breakfast in all senses is a great opportunity to live the full experience... The rooms are also a very good, 5 min walk from Takayama Station. Walking distance from the hotel there are also very good places for lunch and dinner. During your stay the Ryokan...
