We stayed here as a base for exploring Kamikochi and Shirakawa-go. We came here by renting a car from Kyoto. The place is located on a hill so be aware if you want to walk from the station which take around 20min. There is a limited parking space for guest house. All room are located on the second floor. This guest house has the advantage of a beautiful view, as it sits atop of a hill over-looking the mountains. We had a warm welcome and were given lots of information about the area, as well as maps, which were useful. There was free wi-fi throughout the building and the signal was strong. The kitchen and common areas are very... More

What a great location in a lovely quiet area in Takayama! During our one night stay the guest house was very quiet and peaceful. We stayed in a private twin room which was spacious and comfortable. The free shuttle bus to the train station was great in the morning after so much walking the day before our tired feet were... More

My son and I stayed at this guest house for two days in early July. It was 15 to 20 minutes walking from the bus station and the tourist areas of Takayama. There is a shuttle to the guest house twice a day but we came in late the first night and slept late the first morning so we missed... More

We really enjoyed our stay here. It was a short walk from the Hida Village, and a 15 min walk to town. There is a bus that goes from the train station and drops you to the door for only $210 Yen. Very convenient instead of walking with your bags. They also provide complimentary shuttles to the train station each... More

I really enjoyed my time at sakura guest house. I booked a double bed room which was very comfortable with good wifi. The kitchen, shower and toilet facilities were clean and tidy. The only slight down side is that it's far from the town centre, but it is close to the Hida folk village which is a must see in... More

We love this place! It´s just a short walk to the downtown (about 20 minutes?) and it´s in a quiet, peaceful and beautiful location. In a good day you can see the mountains in the background. Nice showers, amazing kitchen, great atmosphere in japanese style. The staff is very kind, helpful and they are always ready to make you feel... More

The guesthouse is about a 15 minute walk from the train station, on the other side of the tracks from Most of the main sites in Takayama. But besides that the gueshouse was amazing, a lovely, homey cabin feel with a fire in the kitchen and wonderful private bunks in the dorm with heated blankets and lots of shelf space... More

The Sakura Guest House Takayama combines tradition and romance. The location of the guest house is a bit inconvenient, because the distance to the city center and the train station is considerable. This is a disadvantage, and also an advantage for the guesthouse. Its traffic location on a hill you have a beautiful view over the city Takayama and in... More
