The ryokan is only 1 block from Takayama bus station, yet remains quiet and undisturbed. The entrance is very unassuming, but once inside the door, we feel completely at ease with the space and decor. Service is warm and attentive. English level is good. Our room is spacious and comfortable with all amenities, plus a capsule coffee machine. During day...

Impeccable service from the moment we stepped in the door. The room was beautiful and comfortable, the onsen bath was great, and the nightly 8-course meals were delicious. Bonus marks for the rubber boots and traditional jackets available to borrow for a walk around town and to the temples.

We visited for two nights in a period of very heavy snow falls. The ryokan is only about a 2 min walk from the train and bus stations. From the moment we arrived, we enjoyed a heavenly experience. Warm tea and a snack on arrival to relax. A choice of yukata to wear. Excellent in door/out door onsen with a...

First ryokan stay so cannot compare to others. Good location, walking distance from the train station. We walked everywhere, including to Old Town. We were here in Takayama for the Fall Festival and to visit Shirakawa-go, lucked out by getting one of the last tatami rooms! Lovely toiletries and amenities were included. Every night the futon was laid out for...

Overall, a good experience, with a homely environment with the following that we like: 1) hotel is near to the train station and around 10 mins walk to the old town. 2) hotel provides satchets of tea with different flavours in the evening 3) staff are friendly, and provided 'activated' warmer packs 4) hotel provides moisturer and milk lotion in...

Comfortable traditional ryokan. As an American I am more used to a standard bed, but the futons were more comfortable than others I have slept on. The ryokan is very pretty, the rooms could stand a bit of refurbishing, but are nice. Breakfast is huge and you should always get the Japanese one as the western one was not really...

The ryokan was very easy to find if you looked it up beforehand. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, offering tips on what to see around town. It felt like a very personal experience - when leaving the inn, staff would bring our shoes from the storeroom without asking who we were (likewise when returning). We stayed in a...

The manager was very friendly with children. When one of my babies was crying, he gave her a toy and some biscuits to make her smile again. Another pleasant surprise was that even male guest get to borrow a yukata. On top of all these, the room was spacious and fitted with modern amenities. In short, if budget allows, I...

We normally do not write many reviews, but wanted to write a review of this hotel because we will never forget our experience here. It was one of the best stays in all our trips to Japan, and our favorite stay so far. Takayama, overall, is a wonderful city. Very friendly people, to tourists and locals alike, and are always...

Overall, excellent experience thanks to very considerate staff and a traditional & cocooning atmosphere! In more details, the hotel is very cute, especially the living room area. Our room was large, comfy and well equipped in a traditional way. I loved the fact that we could choose a yukata from a large panel of options and that we could wear...
