This hotel gives you a nice taste of the Japanese experience. After taking your shoes off in the lobby you take the elevator to your tastefully decorated Japanese style room. I thoroughly enjoyed the hot bath on the 13th floor and found it very relaxing. The breakfast buffet was very good. One word of advice if you stay here...get your...

I booked a little too late to come to Takayama Spring Festival and this hotel was the cheapest vacancy we could find. We stayed in a double room for 2 nights at 60,000 yen with breakfast (so yes, really pricey if you booked hotels late for the Spring festival). The hotel is only 5-7 minutes walk from the JR Takayama...

Takayama bus terminal or station is just about 300m away! You won't miss the hotel as it's one of the few tall buildings around. In fact it doesn't have an English name displayed (or maybe I just didn't see it), so just walk to the nicest building around. Public onsens are available for free, so are the private ones but...

We stayed here for a night and good location as it was only 5mins walk from Takayama Station. The room was small but decent. Before u enter to your room, u have to deposit your shoes in the lobby locker which is quite interesting. What I like most was the private onsen at the roof top. Was a bit disappointed...

We stayed here for one night. This is very near to Takayama JR station. Quite convenient. The room is a bit small. The breakfast was very good with a lot of choices... On top floor, there is public shared hot spring... It was free. There is both indoor and outdoor... I tired both and it was nice.

We stayed here from 20th to 23rd December. Its location is near to JR station, bus station, convenient store (Family Mart) and several souvenir stores (5-8 minutes walk). A good base if you intend to visit UNESCO World Heritage sites, Shirakawago and Gokayama. We took a dip in the onsen at this hotel (almost every night after a supper of...

This is a no shoe entered hotel. There are lockers provided at the lobby for storing your shoes. Front desk girls dressed in traditional Japan kimono and helpful. There are 4 private Onsens to queue for use, waiting didn't take so long. The dinner and breakfast both all good enough. Many Hong Kong people were there when I stay there...

We were greeted by a man in the car park who advised us where to park which was helpful. On entering this hotel through a beautiful Japanese garden you were transported into a world of calm. Rooms were well appointed, very clean, comfortable and for a Ryokan even had a lounge which was a nice touch. Friendly and very polite...

At Takayama ouan we experienced the true spirit of the famed japanese hospitality. Barely 300 metres from the Takayama station, this ryokan/hotel has a good admixture of modern amenities and classical interiors. The reception staff was very helpful. Although, one has to open the shoes at the reception, the process cannot be simplified and streamlined any further. Once you are...

After many mediocre days in Japan we checked into the OUAN. This hotel really improved the image of Japan. The staff all spoke English and were so hospitable( they even wiped the rainwater off our luggage...). It was quite a fun experience to wear the special shoes and 'pajamas' provided and to sleep in low-lying beds. You really ought to...
