Zambia is a bit of a basket case. Any country that takes its visa fees in USD must be, do they not have any pride in their own country or currency? However we were delighted to spend a night in this wonderful hotel, an oasis in the confusion of a once glorious country. The staff are helpful and courteous. The...

I attended Livingstone, to conduct a one week workshop for an African Organisation. They had booked accommodation and conference venue at the Protea Hotel Livingstone. From check in, the staff at this hotel are friendly and helpful. Little things in the room, such as airconditioning were explained to me. The room is spacious and the ensuite is very good. I...

I'm giving this hotel a 2/5 rating, as opposed to a 1/5 rating, because the front desk staff was friendly and did their best to be helpful (scheduling taxis, etc)...and I want to be fair enough in acknowledging their efforts. That said, my experience here was very uncomfortable... and even though I've written back and forth with the Marketing and...

Had booked with a B&B, but Livingstone's mandated power cutoffs meant no A/C or any power from 2-10 pm, unacceptable in such a hot place. Since hotels have generators, we decided to try the Protea, because I had seen them all over South Africa. Could not have been more pleased. Great service, A/C, pool, bar, and breakfast. My friend celebrated...
