My partner and I booked in for 6 nights over the lunar new Year. Although it was slightly more expensive than some of the other options, the setting and hospitality made it totally worthwhile. The rooms are large, well decorated and set in a lovely secluded garden area with a pond and seating, in addition to individual patio or balcony...

Loc Phat Hoi An Homestay was a great place for our stay in Hoi An. The rooms are big, with large beds and very clean. The place itself is tucked away and quiet. Although a little further out from the old town or the beach, bikes can be hired for free which makes going to and from the town/beach quick...

We loved our 3 nights at Loc Phat. The room was large and immaculately clean, the owner and staff were welcoming. It's an absolute bargain considering we paid less than £100 for 3 nights, breakfast, airport transfer, bike hire and our laundry! We even came back to the room to find my muddy trainers had been cleaned and we're looking...

Located a little farther from the main streets of Hoi An, this is a quiet place laid out kind of like a jungle bungalow with a tranquil garden area. My husband and I stayed there for two nights. They were very helpful in setting up an airport transfer last minute on our way there. Breakfast was great, simple choices and...

Like other writers have said this is not so much a home stay but a villa and a fantastic one at that! They were all so helpful in everything, whether it was doing our laundry or getting the post office workers to come and wrap our souvenirs we wanted to send home. They even got us a private driver for...

The villa is beautiful and serene and our room was phenomenal. The best part was the introduction to Hoi An and all the fantastic recommendations that the owner gave us. We did everything she recommended and didn't regret it. They also have bicycles you can use whenever you want which was so convenient and really made it easy for us...

We really enjoyed our 3 nights here at this homestay - the family is so kind and sweet. It was very close to Old Town and tucked away by lots of greenery. The breakfasts were very yummy as well. Our room had a balcony and it was always quiet/tranquil. Keep in mind this is of course a small, family-run homestay....

Hoi An is a cultural destination in Vietnam that should not be missed. Our 4-day trip there was extra special staying at Loc Phat, just 5-10 minutes outside of the old city by motorbike. What an incredible family, and how much they love their town! Their passion alone made Hoi An one of our favorite spots in the country, especially...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Loc Phat Hoi An Homestay Villa is run by Nguyen Thi Ngoc Linh, or Linh for short, whose family has lived on the same property for 4 generations. It’s named after my sons, Phat (which means development) and Loc (Luck). My roots stretch back to a small fishing village near Hoi An beach, while my husband’s family has lived on the property I now operates from for over a century. Linh claims to have established the first professional homestay in Hoi An and everything I has learned during my time working in hospitality is visible in the day to day going-ons of the Villa. Stay for a night and you will notice the family’s impact on every aspect of life in Loc Phat. Linh’s children, nieces, and nephews run around and play with their toys, my father-in-law stands aged and smiling as security, my sister greets you from behind the reception desk, my sister/brother-in-law serve you a complimentary breakfast, and my aunt will clean your room. In fact every employee of the homestay is a member of the extended family. ”We respect everything we have, because we are very lucky to have it” The homestay is more than just a business for us, it’s a way of life. The Homestay Villa has recently added brand new buildings to its complex, so visitors no longer live within Linh’s home, we have our own beautiful modern private rooms to retire to, all built around the tranquil garden. However interaction with the family is still a large part of the experience, and any guest who wishes to sit down for a chat or simply observe is greeted with open arms and a smile. Linh is an intrepid and well versed cook, and I exhibit my skills for the dinners I enjoys cooking for my guests for someone stay in the Villa are looking forward to have cooking class you will be composed of Cao Lau noodles (made from a secret recipe that is known to only one family in Hoi An), green mango salad, fresh spring rolls, and the famous Hoi An pancakes……….. with Linh for a homecooking class. Linh also takes great pleasure in talking with my guests and spends hours of my day interacting with anyone who has a question or is curious about the Hoi An way of life. I will organize any manner of trip for her visitors, from a excursion to a lantern making shop, a trip to a local market for ingredients used in the cooking class, or mundane things like arranging taxi service to the airport…………etc. The Homestay likes to give back to the community and every year Linh and my husband sponsor the education of two children, one from Linh’s fishing village and one from Hoi An. Since there is no such thing as free public school in Vietnam many children, especially the third or fourth born in any family, are in danger of missing out on a formal education. Linh was one of only five children to go to school in her village, so she has a deep empathy for the plight of uneducated children in the region. In addition the homestay also gives away a bicycle to one lucky child at the end of every year. If you haven’t already gathered we were charmed by Hoi An, Loc Phat Hoi An Homestay Villa, and the family living there and operating it. If you want to experience an authentic slice of Vietnamese life within Hoi An City, book a stay at the Homestay Villa. You will be welcomed to the family with big smiles and open arms. ... more   less

Dear Ms. LINH,

Thank you for long answer. I would have been more happy if you put the same effort in putting correct data on agoda as you out now to blow your trumpet about how good you are.

Firstly it was painful for writing a bad review, since this was my first bad review ever. Because i have many many viet friends and i love viet people.

I never wrote a bad review because everyone makes honest mistakes , but cheating people is a different category.

Having a bad breakfast is just a mistake , no problem, giving false data is cheating. There is not worse thing for a tired tourist than arriving and realising the place is not as it was advertised.

Besides i would have been grateful if you write down my name correctly , it us just beside my comment , not so difficult only 5 letters. I think this just summarises your attitude about a visitor who dares to say an honest comment.

Thirdly lets keep with facts: i said your garden is beautiful. I keep it. I even said some may think you offer a good service . I still say this. i say your room is 11.8 sqm. You say 29. I repeat this.

I measured it 3 times. I also invited you to measure it together what you flatly denied.

So now here is my offer to you: since you do not believe my measurement i ask hoi an hotel and homestay committee to go and measure the room. You may know them : Phong Thuong Mai va Du Lich. They will Make an official report with 10 pictures and findings on the room I of course will go back to hoi an and will take part and sign the document. I think that is correct measurement, i am sure you will agree that. After I and You can put that on agoda and tripadvisor, that is a correct procedure.

Fourtly: i very much happy you shared your wisdom with whole tripadvisor community. I really share these values. I really likes learning from everyone even from you.

Though i must say i would respect your views even more if you would live these values, because after a cheating act i think is better not to give moral kessons to anyone.

Besides i think using a 5 letters word like "sorry" sometimes gives you more credit than writing a long letter saying you are wonderful. It would have saved you from writing a long letter and loosing your face in front if many honest people.

Besides i think you should have realised this is tripadvisor and the main purpose of reviews is to give honest feedback. Better to learn from customers than trying to tell them they are stupid.

All the best wishes:

A friend of your nation and honest homestay hotel owners.
