We stayed just for one night and arrived late. Reception was friendly and the room was clean and comfortable with a nice view of the river. It was a bit quirky and does require a little updating but overall a pleasant stay. Breakfast was good.

We were here one night enroute from Buenos Aires to Montevideo. We had a great room off an internal courtyard with a delightful 'La Fuente' (the fountain) which provided a backdrop of splashing water. The courtyard is covered in grape vines which provided a delightful place to just sit and read. WIFI in the garden was great. Our room had... More

I will state upfront that my partner did not have problems sleeping but he can sleep through an earthquake. If you are like this don't bother reading this review. We got the "Matrimonial Suite" and it was facing the street. I did not sleep. All night long people walked by and I could literally hear them burp. It was as... More

We spent two nights here and chose to stay in one of 3 rooms upstairs due to the rainy weather. The rooms surrounding the fountain in the courtyard were actually much nicer with the exposed rock or brick walls. However, given the weather, we opted for more more light and a better view. On the positive side, the location of... More

Posada Plaza Mayor was a beautiful retreat while visiting Colonia. Our room was well appointed - love the exposed brink walls, wood beam ceiling and white linens. The location of the hotel is perfect for walking around the quaint town as well as the water front.

This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel. Both times were the last night of a business trip. The old section of town is a great place to slow down after a fast passed trip. The hotel is not large and is very quite. The rooms have high ceilings and are just a little small. But there... More

Stayed the one night, should have stayed two. Not because of the hotel, but because Colonia was such a charming place and the hotel is perfectly located. The hotel is a two hundred year old building restored and generally well maintained. However it is still an old building, so if you want romanticism, it is there in spades, if you... More

The Posada plaza major is at the centre of the colonial town of Colonia del Sacremento and has a charming old courtyard with a fountain. However unless you book one of the courtyard rooms the veranda rooms are very small for $125US. So small in fact that it was difficult to find room to park our cases. Check out the... More

I was received by a charmless staff but a pretty fountain in the courtyard lifted my spirits upon arrival. The room was unremarkable but clean. Being in the middle of old town on a weekend meant music playing until late in the neighborhood although the hotel guests were quiet. I had hoped to open the french doors onto the courtyard... More

This Posada is simply the most romantic place in Colonia del Sacramento. The rooms are beautiful and the bathrooms superb. The breakfast room has the most beautiful view from the Rio da Plata, and all the good restaurants are within walking distance. The central garden is soooo awesome that many tourists just get inside believing this a museum they can't... More

“The Wi-Fi in the rooms was not enough signal thought the stone walls. Yu needed to be in the courtyard. There is no hotel parking, street or square only but we had no trouble finding a spot; it was just a haul on the cobblestone with big bags. Ask for ground floor so the courtyard is right there.”
