All as expected. Good location in the city centre, possible to walk around in the area and close to the water. Rooms are OK, a bit old fashioned but nothing bad. Price was acceptable, a good place to stay in Sharjah.

Save money and receive some of the best service possible, by staying at the AlHamra. We hired a private driver and the 25 minutes in non-rush traffic was a great exchange to save a lot of money. They serve full breakfast. The rooms are very clean. Choice of smoking and non-smoking. The laundry service will pick up clothes and return next day or same day, if pick up is early morning. The building is not to be believed and their attention to their guests wishes surpass many countries that we have stayed in.

This AlHamra is NOT owned by the same company that owns the one in Dubai, which is not a place we would recommend, due to high prices and nasty attitudes.

Enjoyed staying here! Nice service and everything. Tip: there is gym with modern equipment and great view from the window on 11th floor and swimming pool on the roof. Breakfasts were tasty but a little monotonous. The location of the hotel is good enough, many cafés nearby. Bus shuttle goes around 15 minutes to the beach.

I am writing this review, and I am not frustrated at all. I just hope the hotel would honestly review the rating they give themselves or improve themselves to match other 4 star hotels. The staff is nice, but they hold your passport for some weird reason (it is illegal), but they try to get around it by saying that they only keep it to scan it. The room is clean, but awfully small. It is the smallest room I have ever been to in my entire life. It is a place where you sleep and that's it. You cannot even find a space where you can stretch. The Air Condition is a disaster; if you turn it on, you freeze to death no matter how much you adjust it, and if you turn it off you sweat. So my wife and I kept turning the air condition on and off during the day and night so we do not freeze or sweat (it was also loud). I asked for extra blankets, which were given to me without a problem. The buffet breakfast was a joke, very limited and the food was blaaa. I did not even eat there the second day even if it was free, because I was not too excited about that food. The food we ordered in our room was reasonably priced and it was tasty. Other things that do not qualify this hotel to be a 4 star is the partially paved parking/road, the so called kids club that has a little carpet and plastic table with 4-5 chairs and a play station that was not connected until we asked for it. Some other good things are the free internet and nice staff, but they are not very honest about reasons why they hold your passport.

I like the Emirates as a hollidayspot. Less known, save and beautifull. The Al Hamra hotel is nice located near the corniche, but not at the most lovely part of the city. People are working hard to make this city also an important destination, but there is still some work to do. Take the hop on hop off buss at the Islamitic Museum, just behind the corner, and enjoy the most beautifull spots of the city. Visit the Saharah Mall, te Waterparc, Musea etc... In the morning, the breakfast is nicen don't hesitate to ask something what is not on the the list, if it is in the kitchen, they'll prepare it for you. Also the Afghanis restaurant just at the side of the hotel is delicious!

It was just ok if you want to stay for a night or two, I had to shorten my stay and check out, I wanted to see what it will be like staying in Sharjah and maybe I should have searched for more hotels than chose this but the staff were friendly and welcoming upon check in with a glass of juice. That did the trick

The hotel was clean, but only two floors for non smoking so we got a smoking room :( Eventually we got used to it as they didn't have another room available to give us. The breakfast not my favorite, but for those that are not so picky it is ok.
Although it is rated as a 4 stars hotel it is more like a 2+ ...
The pillows were hard as a rock so we bought 2 softer from the supermarket, otherwise we couldn't sleep.

The photo of the hotel, from the park across the road, presents it in a far more flattering light than it deserves. The reviewer who mentions the half-paved roads was right. Unfortunately, this kind of solid dirt surrounding is far too common in Sharjah. You also need to beware of the one way system around the hotel. They didn't keep my passport because I demanded it back before I left check-in. The room was tiny and the view of the wall opposite did nothing to add to the feeling I had made a mistake. The room smelled stale and bed was awfully hard. One night was enough. I decided to try room service breakfast and out went the door hanger at 10.30pm. Next morning the breakfast failed to arrive so I called down to find the room service staff alleging they had not received it. I certainly wasn't waiting any more time for them to sort out their act. I got something at the nearest petrol station. Four stars? No it isn't. And for those who want to be near Dubai, don't even think of coming here. The traffic between Sharjah and Dubai is horrendous and you would have to have a pact with the Devil to drive here.

We stayed at the Al Hamra at the end of a holiday where we had selected two other hotels belonging to major international chains. This little but very dignified property probably gave us more of a local flavour, and for a lower price.
We found our room to be very clean and provided with all the expected amenities. If anything, the room (and the beds) were slightly on the small side, but still acceptable. The building is fairly new and so are all fittings and furniture.
Staff were friendly and helpful, and the restaurant provided sufficient quality for the average price paid.
A curiosity, for us, was the times of access to the roof-top swimming-pool, which are separated by gender, in line with the local Muslim tradition. This, however, can be a drawback for a family who wishes to spend a little time together by the pool side.
General customer service could do with little improvements here and there, such as for example the early-morning provision of complimentary newspapers to the rooms where guests explicitly request for them.
Still, our experience was overall very pleasant.
