The room I was given was very traditional and had an "Ottoman" style to it.It was much larger than many of the rooms I have had.The bathroom was however a little small but fully functional. The manager was a very decent chap and helped us with information. All in all a good value stay.

If you go to Safranbolu, you might want to make sure to get to know the comfort of one of the traditional houses. To me, Bastoncu Konak is the place to be. I got picked up from the bus station by Ali, who made my (short) stay as nice as it could be. The house and its rooms are amazing,... More

We had a great experience in this Pension, which is a real 350 year old Ottoman mansion. Our room was great, furnished with traditional pieces. The hosts were very kind and helpful, giving good tips on where to go and sight see. The breakfasts included in the morning were traditional Turkish style and very filling. The host picked us up... Three of us ended up in Ali's pension/hotel after failing to secure a bed in his sister's guest house (Efe Guest House). The rooms were adequate - the place itself is pretty quaint and ramshackle (it's a 350 year old home, or so he informed us). The bathroom is also the toilet - a cupboard essentially - so prepare to... More

We booked this hostel with a week in advance. The rooms are old Ottoman style and the "dorms" are comfy beds laid out within the room. The shower is not good since it shares the space with the toilet and sink but for a weekend trip it's bearable (you should check out the Hamam in town anyway!). The building itself... More

Safranbolu was one of the highlights of our trip and we enjoyed staying in this beautiful, historic, Ottoman house so much. We were picked up super-early at the bus company office by the innkeeper who let us check-in early. We enjoyed our traditional Turkish breakfasts each morning (especially the homemade sour cherry jam!). The location is excellent and we enjoyed... More

It's next to Kaymakamlar Museum and a short distance from Hidirlik Hill. Rooms are nice and clean. I had very good sleeps. Hotel owner Ali is friendly and helpful. He cooked some special eggs for us as breakfast. On the day we departed, we needed to check out before breakfast time but hadn't told Ali beforehand, he rushed to buy... More

I still remember Safranbolu...Its unforgetable place in Turkey. I felt myself during our stay there like in Ottoman empire. Its family small hotel, very cosy and still keeping in historical original style. Its situated in old part of town, not far from hotel there are bazaar and cafes. We stayed there with our big company and were spending evening time... More

We arrived at Safronbolu at the end of June and was picked up by a very friendly Ali (the hotelier). He showed us to our room which was spacious, spotless, and decorated in such a way that it looked like it came out of an Ottoman storybook. In short I was pleasantly gobsmacked! Ali proudly told us that the panelled... More

“We had the triple room, which was decorated with jars of spices, an old wooden clock, and a window seat with patterned cushions. When we took a quick peek, some of the other rooms seemed to be more sparsely decorated. Be prepared for a shower that is mounted in the tiny bathroom over the sink -- from my experience, this is common in Turkish pensions.”
