Breakfast, lunch & dinner had a range of options, even if you are a fussy eater.
Good location for shopping as there were many around just have to find the ones that give you the best price, have to shoutout memos bags & shoes opposite the hotel, lovely guys, down to earth really help you out to choose something, got to know these over the days & also scarface clothes shop, really lovely guys, have a good range of tracksuits/tshirts, all sorts with all diff colours you wouldnt find in the uk..
the beach only a 5/10 min walk from the hotel, plenty of sun loungers, quite clean & good views.. went pebble searching & found some nice unusual ones
I'm not a drinker but I did have a few cocktails towards the end of my trip which was all inclusive.
My room was always cleaned everyday and I was given fresh water in bottles in my fridge.
The only bad thing is paying for WiFi in the rooms, it should be included but you still get free WiFi in the lobby.
Would I stay here again...most definitely 😊
It's very clean, you will receive daily room service if required and cleaners are very polite and helpful.
Food was delicious, and I am very glad they didn't have the choice of English Breakfast,.at least not all of it. The options where huge even for picky eaters.
Staff amazing, friendly and helpful. Special thanks to all the waiters who were there for our every need.
Rooms very spacious, so is the lobby, restaurant and pool area both for adults and kids. The big slides where still closed due to the season but we didn't missed on that.
The hotel itself is placed in a very good location, 5 min walk from the beach, where you get sunbeds for free that belong to the hotel. On Mondays there is a nearby small Bazaar. A small market called Migros across the road where you can buy almost everything even souvenirs at cheaper prices. Tourist shops all around but I would check the prices twice before buying anything, as there are a lot of scammers unfortunately.
Great place for couples, families or even if you want to come alone. We came as a family of 5 with 2 small children and they had a blast.
A must try drink- Avena Dream
I would highly recommend this hotel in Alanya and would be very happy to come back.
Probably the only positives...
The hotel was clean and the staff mostly friendly. The maid who cleaned our room and the barman in the lounge were especially helpful and friendly. ( The room had a few unsightly marks which should probably be addressed - in pics)
Wifi is chargeable to non Jet2 customers, fortunately we were with them.
Buckle up...
The food was okay, but there wasn't much choice for kids, the snackbar helped during the day but evening meals were a struggle for a (will admit) fussy child. We ended up eating out for 4/7 nights.
We found it a little lacking in entertainment for the older children, there was a small park which we found on the last day hiding behind the kids club, of which we never saw open. The entertainers were more interested in having fun with the younger adult generation i.e the large group of romanians who were here the same week. ( most of whom were ignorant and rude to other guest)
Don't bother with the evening bingo, the reps take €10 per ticket and the 3 sets of prices are all tatt for the amount they took in tickets!
The rooms although are a decent size are prone to neighbouring noise, the bed is up against a wall which backs onto the next door room were the tv is situated, on more than 1 occasion we had to ring reception to ask them to speak with the room next door who persistently had their tv on so loud until 4am that it sounded like we had it on in our room.
We were also unaware that the call for mass would be that loud it became our alarm clock at 5am. ( we respect religion especially in a country we are visiting, however, had we known it was as loud as it was, we would have considered elsewhere)
If you don't get a sunbed by 7am you will be lucky ( however, on the last day a maid did come and fold up some towels which then resulted in lots of arguing around the pool when the original towel owners found their beds had been taken).
The beach beds are nice though if you can't get to the pool, but be careful of young children swimming in the sea.
Lastly, I had emailed Avena on numerous occasions prior to visiting, also whatsapping them and facebook messenging without a single reply. It was a couple of requests to ask for a lower floor ( my child does not like lifts) and if possible a pool room view to avoid outside main street noise, thirdly if they did anything special for those celebrating a birthday. We ended up being allocated a 3rd floor room on the front ( heard bar noise till late), so my emails were all obviously ignored as well as not responded to.
All in all its made me not want to return to Turkey.
I vacationed at Avena from May 14 to May 24! And I want to say: the hotel exceeded my expectations!
Room cleaning is very high quality, prompt, towels and bed sheets were changed every 3 days. The supplies of water and washing supplies were constantly replenished. Beach towels could be easily changed with cards every day in the spa area.
No complaints about the food or bar! The menu was always tasty and varied. Fish, meat, snacks, fruits, desserts, cocktails for every taste/color/strength - I was more than satisfied!
Free internet is available only in the lobby. Internet for a room for 10 days cost me $22. There is also free internet on the beach.
The area itself is very clean and tidy. The staff is polite, many of them are Russian speakers.
Well, animation. To the very heart for defeat💘. Maria, Rocky, you guys are the best! Very sincere, open, kind, energetic, sociable, cheerful! During the day they did water gymnastics, water polo, in the evening there was a mini disco for children, a show program, and they took us to nightclubs (I went to the club three times, and three times it was cool).
She left and cried! During this time they became close friends, and it is in this atmosphere of love and care for their guests that I want to return again, which is what I will do in the fall❤️
I wish this hotel prosperity, sales, cool, cheerful, kind and fiery guests❤️
Arrived very early hours of the morning and was provided with a drink and a sandwich. There wasn’t a concierge to take our bags at this time in a morning but I actually prefer this (hate the awkward tip handshake thing in the room).
We were allocated a pool view room on the 4th floor in the main block. The room had sufficient storage for 2 adults and a child, a sofa, a king size bed and full size single bed for my son. The beds were surprisingly comfortable too.
The food was very repetitive throughout our stay. I mainly had rice, meat and salad everyday. It was all well cooked and tasty, just repetitive. The servers move your plates super fast too.
The beach is a couple of mins away and sunbeds are free. You can also use the bar for soft drinks and this is free of charge as it’s part of your all inclusive.
The pool is the worst part of this hotel. If you didn’t get a sunbed at 7am you didn’t get one. The pool isn’t huge either so it always felt really crowded whilst you were swimming. The life guard monitoring the slides also creeped me out. I just felt he was a bit inappropriate at times. Beach towels are provided for you, you get a towel card and this is exchanged in the spa. You can only do this at 8am.
Entertainment is rubbish but it’s not a deal breaker for me.
All in all, the hotel was just a bit too busy for me but I did go in school holidays. It may be better in June time.
The rooms are great, very spacious and plenty of space to put clothes. The beds are really comfy, the shower was good and a nice balcony with some lines to hang out wet clothes.
The food is good, always something to eat and fresh. The waiters in the restaurant are constantly running about making sure that the tables are clean, that there is fresh water on each table and any request is never a problem.
The staff here are amazing and so friendly. Yanis and his team are great, so much fun. They make all guests feel welcome and work really hard in entertaining everyone day and night. The bar staff are great, they remember what you drink and you are always greeted with a friendly smiley face.
I can only think of 2 negatives and one of these has nothing to do with the hotel.
Firstly, I think more needs to be done with the towels on sunbeds. Somedays were a real struggle to get a bed when there were lots with towels on which were left all day.
Secondly, if you like swimming in the sea and you aren't a confident swimmer maybe pick somewhere else to stay. The sea is very rough whilst getting in and really rocky. If you are wanting a millpond to swim in this isn't it. However, the beach is lovely and has the most beautiful sunset.
I would highly recommend the Avena Resort and Spa for the price, food, comfort, staff and service.
Pros:
- hotel was very clean and the staff were constantly cleaning around the pool area
- majority of staff were lovely
- room was spacious
- drinks selection was good
- location was great - lots of shops, nice restaurants, market on a Monday
- pool was good
Cons:
- food selection not great for fussy eaters - we ended up eating out most of the time
- getting a sunlounger was a nightmare unless you were prepared to get up before 7am to get one
- the walls between the rooms are paper thin - constant noise all night long and we could even hear the bathroom business of the room next door which wasn't pleasant
- smoking allowed around the pool area - really don't agree with this when kids are around
- evening entertainment was absolutely rubbish - bingo, guess the celebrity, karaoke and the strangest form of entertainment I've ever seen - a man wearing a light up skirt spinning in circles for half and hour (!)
- request a room poolside unless you want to be woken each morning at 5am to the prayer song being blasted out of the speakers at the nearby mosque.
- and the worst part was that there was a sickness bug sweeping the hotel when we were there and we weren't informed when we checked in. 30+ people came down with it during our 10 day stay, including my 13yr old daughter who I have never seen so poorly. She missed 3 days of the holiday due to it and being so weak afterwards. Informed reception in case it needed to be reported and they weren't bothered in the slightest. Just told me to go to the pharmacy. I was aware of numerous people reporting this bug and received the same response as me.
I personally wouldn't stay here again and wouldn't recommend to any friends. This place is probably ok if you have very young children who will sleep through any noise and are happy to live off chips and salad. But the issue around the sickness is what has really spoilt it for us.
