Cannot fault this small resort, everything was perfect including being in the middle of the bar and restaurant district.
A very quiet and clean place.
Breakfast was simple and includes Coffee/Tea and Toast but Bacon and Eggs etc can be purchased for a small charge. The Pool area is beautiful and overlooks the River Kwai and there are plenty of little places within the property to sit, relax and enjoy the peace and tranquillity (especially the top floor mezzanine area which is a hidden gem).
The location is excellent, there are plenty of great (and cheap) Bars and restaurants nearby including a lovely authentic Evening Thai Street Food stall directly outside the property to the right which serves a delicious Pork noodle soup.
The Guest House provides a Tuk-Tuk to Kanchanaburi Bus Station for 100 Baht and they can also arrange transportation options for Guests connecting to Bangkok other places. A laundry service is provided for 30 Baht per Kilo.
This place is a little piece of heaven on Earth!
The property is right on the river, but views are only available from the restaurant, swimming pool area, and upper floor deck. The rooms surround a simple well kept garden. Our second floor room, was fairly large, with a very big ante room for luggage and a ladies dressing table . The bathroom was also quite large with lots of hot water.. The room was clean, and comfortable. The bed was a platform bed and might be a bit of a challenge for older guests.
The restaurant is actually only open for breakfast which provided free toast and coffee. We also ordered from a good number of menu choices-from museli to bacon and eggs (great bacon) at very reasonable price.
The staff speaks little English, all bookings are actually made through Bangkok. My Thai speaking wife tried to get some information about a site we wanted to visit, but they feigned ignorance and just tried to sell us a tour, a little off putting.
You can get the most favorable rates by booking through the internet, not over the phone.
The location is quiet, as it is setback from the main tourist strip, but very close to avail your self of all forms of tourist oriented nightlife. Its about 3 km from the Bridge on the river Kwae (Kwai) All in all its probably the best value in low to mid price range. We also found a great Thai restaurant though I don't remember the name. It's just across the street, from the entrance to the driveway in, and bit to the left. Great Thai food, not expensive.
We stayed at this place, the rate was 1450 Baht but of you booked via internet the Price per night would be 1200 Baht for a minimum stay of 3 nights.
We wanted to stay for 3 nights but the lady at reception would not grant us the discounted rate.
We booked only 1 night in the bamboo bungalow, iT was the best room they had, completely seperately from the others. IT could be something Nice but the room was not taken care off.
The lighting was just Some saving bulbs, the airconditioning was making hell of a noise.
On top of that, the fridge also started making noise.
For the towel at the swimming pool you had to pay.
Breakfast was included but iT consisted only of orange juice, toast, coffee and tea. All supplements had to be paid seperately.
That is where our stay ended.
Positive point : they have a very Nice swimming pool.
When i arrived to hotel i met a officer and tell her about situation, i want her move 2 motorbike out off the line but she said "i know" but not move, then after last car coming she move a motorbike and my car move out again. ?!?!?!
It's my first impression.
At the smallest swimming pool so many mosquito i cannot sit here.
In the room very small. Shampoo and bath cream just have a bottom does not have a liquor.
Free, Drinking water are 2 plastic glasses. !!??
The curtain are not the same design, one is brown and one is flower. What the idea of interior design?
In the morning very surprise with Breakfast, got a bread, butter, orange jam, Coffee, Tea. I never been hotel like this before. To show very bad service and poor Breakfast.
At the swimming pool very surprise more than food.
3 children swimming and put a shoe in the pool. Very dirty. no any officer to looking up there.
by the way, Pool very short, It is hight around 30-50 centimeter.
I confirm this hotel is make up a review. Because we did not meet a nice service here!
They also have a pool, which was the Highlight of our trip since it was very hot. The pool itself is nice, allthough the loungers are cracked and broken. Borrowing a pool towel was 20 baht when we were there. The have a very beautiful poolside restaurant but the downside is, that they do not open this restaurant. They offer a really meek breakfast at the Restaurant facility (toast, jam, coffee) which is included. You can also order other things for breakfast which will be charged. Other than that the "Restaurant" is completely abandoned. At least it was during our stay in october. When we wanted a drink, we had to run through the whole facility to find someone to unlock the bar. This is mostly the reason why I didn't want to rate it four stars. I'm not sure why they Keep the bar and Restaurant closed?! It would add so much to the hotel, since it is really nice sitting right next to the pool and the adjacent river Kwae.
Beware of Moskitos and bugs though. I put repellant on like a crazy person and still got badly stung about 20 times in three nights. Also the staff at the front desk are not trained very well and have Trouble speaking english. But we got along anyway.
"Bring mosquito repellent if you want to hang out in the restaurant or on the rooftop!!"Read full review
