Detailed Reviews
We stayed at Sam’s guest house for one night during a stop to Kanchanaburi from Bangkok. For one night, it had everything which we needed which was a comfortable bed, towels provided for shower, and soaps for the toilet with loo roll.
The rooms are spacious and clean and they are very quiet as the guest houses are set way back from the road.
We were woken up by a super loud squawking bird but this isn’t the guesthouse’s fault.
The staff here are very friendly.
I think a stay here for more than a few nights would be a bit too much but for a one night stop off its perfect.

The guest house has a range of rooms from more modern concrete structures to wooden cottages set on wooden piers in a quiet tributary of the River Kwai. We were upgraded to a riverfront cottage, of which there are about four. The others are set slightly back but still have a river view. It’s a budget guest house, (we paid around £20 per night and stayed 3 nights) so don’t expect any frills. Things are a bit worn but it was clean enough and the bed was the comfiest I’ve had in Asia. We used our own mosquito net but even after a lot of recent rain we had no problem with insects. One slightly disconcerting thing was that the shower, and I believe though not certain, that the toilet flushes straight into the river! Despite that there is plenty of wildlife around, lots of birds and one morning we saw a 4 foot monitor lizard swim across the river. It’s very central- 5 mins walk to bars, restaurants, supermarkets etc. in spite of that and the fact that it was a holiday weekend it seemed quiet with lots of spare rooms and we slept very well. We enjoyed our time here and would come again.

We stayed here for 9 nights in a riverside cabin and were delighted with our choice. This is a budget guest house and at a very budget price - however it had what we needed. It was clean, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom had a properly flushing toilet and warm water shower, we also had a nice balcony - literally on the riverfront as the cabins are up on stilts…. Thankfully as a huge monitor lizard swam by one day! Mrs Moon, the proprietor was extremely friendly and accommodating which added to our enjoyment. The bridge over the River Kwai is about a half hour walk, or quicker on available scooter taxi rides. There are lots of eateries nearby (I will review our favourite Zab Zab) and there is a launderette and pharmacy literally the first two premises at the entrance. For someone wanting a welcoming and budget place to stay, we can’t recommend this enough.

We were four family members in two rooms, Huts 1 and 2 over the water for six nights from 24 December to 30th 2019. Everything was fine. The hosts, Sam and Moon and the other staff were friendly and helpful. We were there so long we became like part of the family. Even their dog Bobby and their cat, made friends with us. Moon and Sam have very good English which made it easier for us. Every morning Moon made us pancakes with banana. One night, late, she even made us a cup of tea, upon our request! Then we sat talking with them for a long time.
We visited the Kanchanaburi War Cemetery due to having a Great Uncle lying there, killed in the War. Also visited the Death Railway Museum opposite, where the staff printed out a copy of his record for us. We also visited Hellfire Pass and Sai Yok Waterfall, The Big Tree, a cave system nearby, a Chinese temple, and walked across that famous bridge by day and by night.
I bought Kanchanaburi Onyx necklace, bracelet and earrings near the bridge, from a woman who said she made them. My souvenier!
Sam's Guesthouse was a good place to stay and we feel as though we are now friends of Sam and Moon, their children, dog and cat!

Booked the superior bungalow for two nites. For the room rate, I think its a value for money in comparison to other Kwai river bank similarly located accomodations which I have stayed before.
Bungalow is located facing river at extreme end of property. AC ok, fridge, TV has english movie channel, WIFI a bit slow. Bathroom with bathtub & hotwater but very small which is within my expectation for an accomodation I considered as 1star as per pricing/location. Room is clean and has a 'private' verandah with table & chairs. No wardobe in room except for wooden wall hangers. I guess you need to request for room cleaning & towel changes personally as nobody came to clean our room.
We ask for an electric kettle & were give one. Had relaxing fun having instant coffee, reading books facing the river.
Bungalow reasonably quiet considering its made from wooden timber but we did hear the early morning music frm nearby excercise joint. Hence choose a bungalow closer to reception if that may bother you. Bicycle renting for B50/24hrs right next to property entrance. All amenities such as convenient store (small tesco), massage place, restaurants are nearby. About 2km north is the Bridge of river Kwai. Kanchana buri town/main bus station is about 5km southwards.
Receptionist is friendly. There are 3 cute small dogs in the property which are harmless. 1 dog liked to bark whenever we passed by though.
I will stay here again next time I m in Kanchanaburi.

The hotel is on the main street in Kanchanaburi where there are shops and bars. The river kwai bridge is a good 20 minute walk, and Erawan falls is a 2 hour bus journey from the bus station which is also around 20 minutes walk away (we just got a tuk tuk to the station). Staff were helpful when asked, and the rooms were good budget rooms.

Great location in Kanchanaburi within walking distance of the Bridge over the River Kwai. Hostel is basically floating on the river so it's pretty cool, hosts were welcoming, pretty helpful. Good location and get what you pay for accommodation

We were looking for a resort and then look down alley off backpacker street and saw this place. So welcoming!
It has a tropical feel - little walkways around water when you get to the rooms and cottages above the river near desk.
If you head down stairs to River there are different size bungalows - 2 to 4 people to split price. They are quaint, clean and decent bathroom for the money and view!
My friend chose the bungalow closer to river. I chose a room up closer to cottages and outdoor front desk.
I loved being an alley away from the noise and just and alley away from everything we wanted to do.
I would go there again for the value and friendly service. They only take cash! My room with a queen size bed, wifi, cable (not flat screen), air conditioning and new windows was 600 baht about $36.
If you are just about the room then go to a resort. If you want to save for eating and visiting sites this is a good deal!

Very affordable with flexible bookings. I will stay here again when I return to Kanchanaburi. The staff speak very good English and the quaint, nature vibe that the place gives off is enough of a reason to return.

Stayed for one night only to visit the Bridge, Cemetry and museum for which this is very well located.
The huts are detached and are a reasonable size for a short stay but the one I was in was a bit grubby, the towels and bed linen smelled like they had not been washed for a while. The receptionist was very pleasant and spoke good english. Overall the room was ok for the price (£12) but no excuse for dirty towels and bedding. Didn't eat here as plenty of bars/retaurants around within walking distance. The bridge, museum and Cemetry are only a short taxi ride away, a bit too far to walk especially if it's around 40C. I hired a scooter for £4 for the day which made it easy to see the sights The train station is a 4/5 minute taxi ride and the bus station about 10 minutes by taxi.
