This was our second year in a row at Good Times Resort, with our three kids aged 11, 8 and 4. We have family that live near Kanchanaburi but even if we didn’t, I’d travel back to this hotel every year I love it that much. Genuinely, there is absolutely nothing I could fault about the hotel. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, they always make time for the kids and engage with them which is lovely.
The bar and restaurant is right on the river; whether you have breakfast, lunch or dinner here it is just so peaceful and picturesque.
The food is excellent. A great selection for breakfast whatever your taste. The menu for lunch and dinner is brilliant; loads of really tasty local dishes for me and my wife and our eldest daughter, and loads of ‘western’ dishes for our fussier, younger two!
The hotel grounds are beautiful. The swimming pool is perfect for what our kids wanted which was plenty of jumping in. The pond with the fish kept our kids entertained for hours during our week long stay. The rooms are immaculate and well kept and looked after. The option of connecting rooms is great; we stayed in 116 and 117 last year and 106 and 107 this year.
The location of the hotel is great; set on the river but far enough back from the main road so there’s no noise. Two minute tuk-tuk to the night market. Loads of bars, restaurants, massage places up on the main road. And there are so many things to do in and around Kanchanaburi.

We noticed this year that there were lots of people like us; repeat visitors. It’s easy to understand why. It really is a perfect hotel.

Stayed 1 night February with G Adventures tour group. A clean pleasant room off the pathway to the pool. usual comforts, including a kettle but sadly no teabags, Complimentary bottled water and roomy fridge. the pool was the cleanest experienced on this tour and a good length for my wife's daily 1.5km swim. Restaurant on the banks of the R.Kwai, so plenty of interesting things to see. Food was a good variety. We would love to have stayed an extra night

We had booked based on the high reviews and they are well deserved. Living their promise!

To summarize, a nice resort, well located at the river with great views. Rooms are cozy, beds are comfortable, rooms well equipped including fridge and AC. Resort also has 2 nice swimming pools and a well maintained garden. Also some construction activities / extensions taking place. WiFi available and good, however not too stable.

Nice breakfast buffet - exceptions compared to other hotels - and especially dinner does have a wide variety of options from the international and Thai kitchen. Highly recommended to enjoy your dinner here!

Resort is also offering several excursions and transport services.

Staff is very kind, friendly and helpful. Thanks for your hospitality! Small point of attention, tone of voice on the room instructions (e.g. charges if items are lost) could be more customer friendly, same message however worded in a different way.

Overall highly recommended!

I was not a fan despite a great location in Kanchanaburi. It is impersonal and pretentious with prices to match. The room is full of items labeled "do not take me with you" which is rather off putting. Breakfast was average, pool small, and the room did not leave a lasting impression one way or another. One good point... the staff. Would I go back? No, I don't think so.

Well located for THE bridge over the river. The staff were lovely, as we found in most of Thailand. The room was a good size and very clean.

We had a lovely dinner here in the restaurant overlooking the river and our Thai guide chose a really nice selection of food for us, including the deep fried river fish. This was all beautifully cooked and presented.

This is a very nice destination. The staff is uniformly friendly and professional. The check in went quickly and uneventfully.
The room was spacious and clean. But there was no chair or table.
The TV ,despite intervention by an employee ,was a mystery during our stay as was the safe which was locked. There were no paintings or decorations on the walls. Condiments such as tea were not replaced on a daily basis nor were bathroom items.
Yet despite these lapses we enjoyed our stay
There was a nice outside sitting area overlooking a pond with fish that feed on food tossed in.
The restaurant served very decent food and the staff were attentive without being intrusive.
Breakfast was included but was limited each day to a choice of eggs, toast, salad , meats and juice and coffee . Some variety would have been nice. This might be explained by the low season coupled with the Covid crisis.

The restaurant is located directly on the river with a view of the nearby famous bridge.
There also was a decent sized pool but the lounges were somewhat worn out and should be replaced.

The hotel is located in the heart of town and close to main road.

All in all despite these minor complaints we enjoyed our stay and would return.

We’ve just stayed at Good Times as a family of 5 with 3 kids-10,9&7. It is such a wonderful hotel. Amazing staff who couldn’t have been more helpful. The food was delicious and for our more fussy kids served a good burger and chips! People very much use it as a base to travel around the area so it’s very quiet in the day. The pool is mainly used to splash about rather than anything else.

Rooms fairly basic but comfy beds and immaculate. Would definitely recommend if you’d like a place to stay to explore the area.

This place is great.
Service was better than the 2 5* hotels we stayed in in Thailand.
Food is brilliant. Getting amazing Thai food, but also getting western dishes right, is rare. Only place ever in Thailand where they did not overcook the pasta.
They are super friendly, help where they can and arrange everything for you if you want them to.
The pools are great, the chill out areas at the river as well and the location of the restaurant is just breathtaking.
Been in many places and this is one of my favourite. Kids loved it as well.
Only two downsides:
- doors in the room were squeaking
- no blackout blinds. If you don’t have eye masks, you will be awake early

The room itself was plain, but comfortable. The outside area overlooking the lagoon was nice and had good outdoor seating. The restaurant setting was great overlooking the river and we enjoyed our breakfast and lunch there. The staff was very friendly and happy to help with any requests. The location was an easy walk to the bridge, and a longer but doable walk to the night market.

Half way between the train station/night market and the Kwai Bridge (about a 20 minute walk in each direction), Good Times hotel has clean and comfortable (and reasonably sized) rooms, two nice clean swimming pools and a reasonable riverside restaurant on site. Staff couldn’t be more helpful and the on site trip booking were reasonably priced and well run. I would stay here again.

Hi Good times resort can arrange any tours or transport for you. We were 4 adults and we shared a private minivan to go to Hellfire Pass then be dropped off at Nam Tom station so we could get train back over the River Kwai and it was 2200bt. The other trip we did was to Elephant Haven sanctuary which was an absolute high light of our 4 weeks travelling. I would highly recommend this especially since you have children. You get to feed the elephants initially with grasses then hear a bit about the rescue project, each elephants history and how they live. Then you get to prepare their food before feeding them. Then we walked through the jungle with them which was amazing. They are free to wander as they please. Then after lunch we walked with them again to a mud bath where my husband got covered in mud and had great time then into the river with them, a lifetimes experience! No riding, treated with total respect. The cost of doing that trip was identical if you booked as we did privately on line before arrival or in good times resort. I suppose advantage of prior booking is availability on the day. 2500bt each but the best spent money Good Times resort sorted our transfers to and from Bangkok in private minibus. Similar prices to private taxis. 2800 BR from airport and 2600 BR to train station. Hope this helps. Have good time. H.
