This hotel is a bit dated but very clean and comfortable. Staff are very friendly and helpful.
Hotel is a good 15 minutes from the town of Kanchiburi.
Would recommend it as we did not see any other hotels of this standard.

Kanchanaburi is an unusually laid out town , very spaced out , the bars and restaurants are in one area, the temple ,bridge and riverside train station town centre is another area . The Away is one of the furthest away from station and bars etc ... it is nice , very colonial in design , massive rooms , rooms clean but outside rooms and stairways , windows etc not as much but it’s fine .
Again taxis either very expensive or don’t want to do the journey even though in reality it’s only 15/20 mins it’s still the furthest and the taxi drivers are so weird about it , they want quick 5 mins jobs ... so strange . So we had that issue every day/ night . Hotel do offer hotel cars for 250bhat - 350 depends where you’re going in the town , you are unlikely to be able to flag one outside as it’s in a remote location . Taxis ( tuk tuk ) from town will be cheaper .
The breakfast was decent , clean and well presented ,
Room huge , we booked a double but got a twin room so they pushed the beds together rather than move us and the hotel was very quiet so they could easily have moved us . The room was a bit outdated , dark , one lamp and one ceiling light and dark old fashioned furniture but the hotel itself was actually really lovely. Colonial styled. Staff pleasant.

Spa prices for massage were 8 time’s more expensive than local massage. Needless to say , it was empty.
They have rescued rabbits on site which was charming

We paid a little more to have river view rooms and found them to be spacious, stylish and very comfortable. The staff were super friendly and polite - this includes receptions, the grounds staff, the cleaners, the waitpersons and chefs. Came with two teenagers, wife and a couple of friends and we'd all come back without a moment's hesitation.
If I can indulge in one small criticism - the breakfast menu was a little too same same after three mornings. Also, the cocktails could have done with a bit of a boost :-)

If all you want to do is get away from the city and relax, this is a good place to be. It is quite far from everything and transportation is expensive. Away Kanchanaburi has an old colonial vibe, like that of Centara Huahin. It is big compared to other hotels in the area and has a beautiful view of the river. The hotel is dated but rooms are clean and very spacious. For sanitary reason, we still prefer the disposable room slippers instead of your hotel slippers though.

The service was okay but I’ve been to other hotels with better service . Also, language was a bit of a problem, they seemed too forward and direct. The food and drinks are expensive and there are no nearby 7/11s. You could borrow their bicycle and go around though. The New Year’s Eve Gala was included in our room rate. It wasn’t bad but it could definitely be improved. We expected a better countdown at least. Also, my sister tried the foot spa and pedicure and she said she could do it better.

Overall, it was all worth the money we paid. We had a great stay. We hope our next stay would be better though.

We stayed here more then 10 nights, booked a room with river view
Well that was quite disappointing, room located on the ground floor, a lot of trees ,so not an direct open view to the river Kwai.
Room facilities and wifi good, but very hard bed.
Nice swimming pool, in the daytime always your private pool, pool bar prices of a high class 5* hotel in Bangkok, but here ???
Covid sanitary rules, there was a temperature scanner at the entry of the lobby, but furthermore no one asked my Thailand pass, covid vaccinations or whatever .
The reception staff was not well trained in dealing with multiple guests at the same time, during check in or out.

I hoped the would be some Christmas activities, but really nothing was organized, even hotel full, was my worst lonely Xmas eve ever..BUt yeah, can blame Covid..

Breakfast buffet was ok, gloves offered to be used when you are at the buffet,Western and Thai dishes offered.

Location is isolated, without a car not recommended.,and yes, for the outside it looks 5*, but the stars fade away once inside.
Nice architecture, garden and swimming pool.

Grand looking resort surrounded by tropical foliage. rooms are not up to date, with minimum amenities, It's kind of disappointing of its lack of up-to-date design. This is the first time I heard that it requires a deposit for key cards to the room. Staff is pleasant, but lots of improvement could be very helpful in bringing the resort up to date for foreigners

Aesthetically this hotel is beautiful, charming and enchanting to stay at. The staff is polite, professional but lacks the warmth a hotel should have in the hospitality business. The guest room had a cozy feel, the bathroom was aesthetically nice with an all marble slippery floor that is hazardous. The shower was uncomfortable with very thin hard streams of water piercing your skin making your experience uncomfortable and not enjoyable. The WiFi at the hotel was decently reliable but not the greatest. Breakfast was basic with not a lot of selection especially for a non Thai palate making it difficult to fully enjoy your time at the hotel. Granted we are in a pandemic right now however, since traveling domestically here in Thailand for the last few months, hotels I have stayed at have been adequately staffed, the property maintained nicely, and received with a warm welcome.

This is a nice hotel but way on the outskirts of town, so the first thing I’d say if you stay here is you need either a car or a motorbike. On first impressions this is a lovely, large hotel and it was extremely quiet despite the staff saying they were full. Reception informed us that it was a free mini bar, which was music to my ears, but soon discovered by mini bar they meant a Coke and an orange juice! The room was large and very pleasant to stay in. The breakfast was adequate. We were late arriving and thought that we could walk to a restaurant, however, after walking for a mile all we found was a 7 Eleven so returned back to the hotel and had to eat in the restaurant, which is a house boat on the river. The food was nice but was very expensive for Thailand. The swimming pool was nice although looked like it could do with a good clean and scrub around the walls and one of the pool lights was hanging in the water. The pool bar was pretty non existent and only open between 4-7pm, although you wouldn’t even notice it was staffed. After all said it is a pleasant, quiet hotel but transport definitely required. It’s a 10-15 min ride into town and an hour and 20 minutes by bike to Erawan water falls and also to Hellfire Pass but don’t try and do them on the same day.

Dear Bigrigs71, Thank you for sharing your experience at our resort. We greatly appreciate your good comments about our rooms, atmosphere, and swimming pool. Our resort is placed in a quiet area of the Kwai River and 3 km. to the city area. Most of our guests come to our resort by their own transportation or come with their travel agency vehicles. If our guests do not have their own cars, most of them rent a car to Kanchanaburi or do the rental vehicles at the downtown before reach to our resort. Or, the take a taxi from the bus station in downtown to the resort. Then they use our limousine to travel around the province. Our hotel provides the hotel limousine in the standard price of transportation compared with hotel transportation fees in Kanchanaburi. Anyway, we truly look forward to having the opportunity to welcome you back in the future. Best regards, The Management Dheva Mantra Resort, Kanchanaburi

Overall, a very pleasant stay. Rooms are spacious with a great balcony that you can actually use. Bathroom and amenities are sumptuous, and everything seems spotlessly clean. Our stay included breakfast and the buffet had plenty of choices- both Asian and Western style. The pool area is not super large, but on most of the days it will be big enough to cater to the amount of users.

In general a very pleasant stay. Only thing I’d like to mention for management/maintenance is to pay a bit more attention to detail: a broken lightbulb here, and a loose faucet there are things that should be picked up and attended to, without having to ask. Especially since housekeeping can easily spot and notify these things.

The setting with grounds flowing down to the river is idyllic. The hotel itself is quite grand at first blush, but lack of maintenance and limited housekeeping soon becomes noticeable. Our room was very spacious with a balcony overlooking the pool and the river. Lack of a screen door meant you had to run the AC and keep the door closed to keep out mosquitos. Annoyingly out room was half a step up from the hallway and the large bathroom was half a step down. A bit of a tripping hazard and not suitable for a wheelchair user or any one with any mobility limitations. 2 beds had been pushed together to create a double but that meant the headboards did not line up with the bed or the single bed side table. Beds were comfortable, AC and internet worked fine. The whole place was passably clean but plenty of dust and insect casing were present on higher walls and surfaces. Breakfast was ok not great. Coffee was a little odd. Beautiful gardens but not convenient to town. Neigbouring property throws loud parties so noise could be an issue. Towels were threadbare but sheets were nice. We left housekeeping a tip anyway figuring people had been hard up during Covid. No nearby dining so captive audience situation at dinner as town is hard to get to. The rice barge dining room floating on the river was delightful as was the pool. Quite a lot of contradictory experiences in a single stay but could be splendid - having said that rates were fairly inexpensive.
