The location of the hotel was a little far from everything, no shop near by and need to take taxi everywhere (which isn’t a problem), reception staff are very lovely and book cars for you.
The restaurant is average, free breakfast is good, with plenty of choice or hot and cold food, from cereal, bread to rice or noodle dishes. We did eat at the restaurant twice in the evenings for convenience, and it was fine, but not amazing. The portions were quite small, for a mid-high cost and could do with more flavour. Drinks also weren’t the cheapest.
Overall a lovely stay.
This is a small hotel which backs onto the river Kwai. There is a dining terrace down near the river ( not always ideal on the evenings when the mosquitoes are out in force) where they have fish food so that you can feed the very many fishes.
The gardens are immaculately kept and very pretty indeed. All of the staff are very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble.
The beds and pillows are very firm but that seems to be the way in most of Thailand.
This is a quiet hotel without much around it although there is a restaurant on site with a good selection of food (all Thai) which was well cooked.
In summery, if you are looking for a one or two night stop over while travelling visiting the bridge over the river Kwai and surround area you wont be disappointed with Princess River Kwai Hotel.
The welcome is friendly.
The site is calm, surrounded by lush vegetation, and the hotel garden is delightful. The best thing about this hotel is its location on the river with a pretty little infinity pool directly on the river.
The room is pretty, the bedding excellent, the bathroom more rudimentary, but with all the products available.
Breakfast is average, quantity but not quality, but with fresh fruit.
The service is “timid”.
The hotel is about 15’ from the bridge and the train station.
When we arrived we were greeted by the lovely man who works on the reception desk. Let me tell you he made our stay in Kanchanaburi perfect. We asked him to book us a taxi and told him the things we wanted to do while we were in the area and he organised the lot for us. We went to Wat Tham Suea temple, Meena cafe for drinks and cake, Kanchanburi war cemetery to see my great grandfathers grave and the museum and then the bridge on the river kwai ( we started all of this 1 hour after booking the taxi). Day 2 we went to Erewan falls then to Thamkasae station to ride the train along the death railway back to the main bridge. He organised the whole lot and also the taxi driver was amazing. So thank you so much for helping us make the most of our stay. Treasure this man he is amazing.
The swimming pool was great overlooking the River Kwai is a special experience.
Bieakfast was good we all managed to fond something to eat. We ate in the restaurant at night. The food did all come out randomly which was annoying but food was good.
My only complaint if i was to find something is the bed was so hard i struggled to sleep as it was painful on my thighs. But I understand that is the Thai way and it’s more of a western thing to have a soft bed.
Staff were so so lovely and worked very hard especially the lovely man who helped with suitcases.
All in all i loved my stay and would most certainly come back on my next trip to Kanchanaburi
Appealing rooms with modern bathrooms, impeccably clean, comfy bed.
Breakfast is very typical of Thai resort, excellent for Thai, maybe not the same for western people.
Staff are friendly and helpful.
I enjoyed my stay.
The rooms were nice. Breakfast was not my favorite, but I saw the kitchen and it was clean.
It was the beautiful setting that I loved the most. Well taken care of garden and grounds. The pool had stunning views and so relaxing.
I’d highly recommend this place!
Breakfast are awesome too. Rooms and bed very comfortable. I recommend this place although the location is a bit far from "downtown"
The bathroom is not the maximum, but honest.
Garden very well cared for and nice pool.
Very friendly and attentive people.
The service is good and with honest prices.
The pool and nice facing the river
"River room would have been nice, as the view was great. The restaurant is average, better food in the city."Read full review
