For many years the Cathay has been 'the' backpacker, traveller, visa runner place in Had Yai to stay a day or two and swap gossip and the latest travel news when going or coming from Malaysia. It still is, but possibly not much longer. The guests used to be almost all westerners, but there are more and more budget travellers...

The service is nice, there is in house restaurant, laundry, book exchange and travel agent, and location couldn't be better. But the room smelled terrible. Sheets and towels were clean and so was the toilet and floors so we never found out what was that smell. But it sure smelled like stuck sewer. The hostel is retro style. Like those...

This place is a complete rip off and not worth a single baht. The room and bathroom was very filthy and stank. The staff was more or less ok. There are tons of other guesthouses for the same price, go elsewhere.

We stayed one night en rote to Ko Lipe. It was a good choice and good value at 240 Baht for a double room. We chose it largely because other reviews mentioned it had a travel agent downstairs and we needed to buy tickets to Ko Lipe so we could travel the following day. Many reviews accurately describe this guesthouse....

You get what you pay. If you just need a place to sleep, shower and good rest, you just have to pay for those things only. No need to pay extra fee for unnecessary things like wifi, tv etc.. But, If you still require internet connection, you just have to pay additional fee, which is the internet fee. You can...

First thing I really would recommend about this place is of course the LOCATION! it's close to everthing. I get a walking distance from the hotel to the train station which I use to get back from Hatyai to Kuala Lumpur. There're many restaurants nearby and also Halal food restaurants which is affordable. Don'tr worry if youre hungry late night...

If you can save some baht by calling and making a reservation, online the rate is about 40 baht more. The location is great, very close to markets, good food, and easy to grab a songtow anywhere in the area. They have good breakfast food for a decent price until 4pm every day. The rooms are okay, the place needs...
