Everyone is very kind here. The place is beautiful and quiet with much taste and attention to detail. Gorgeous gardens and fantastic food. Short drive to Kilimanjaro international airport. Would definitely come back.

We are just finishing a two night stay at Shangazi House and are unbelievably impressed. It really is the best small and intimate hotel we have stayed at. The drive in fools you like many places in Africa until you pass the gates into a little oasis. We have travelled a lot to all parts of the world and this...

At the beginning of our wonderful safari adventure with George Mavroudis Safaris, we recently stayed at Shangazi house for a few days after a series of long flights from the USA and we were delighted with all aspects of the beauty, comfort and service. The grounds are pristine and lush and hide the few tucked in luxury cottages that have...

I stayed at this little gem of a place on my first & last nights in Tanzania. It's convenient for Kilimanjaro airport and is set among some stunning gardens - very relaxing place. The service was great, no fuss but everything done with style and elegance. The food was 'yummy' - some of the best I ate during the whole...

We stayed at Shangazi house after landing in Arusha, before heading onto safari the next day. It was just what we needed after 20 hours of air travel. So relaxing to arrive to cocktails by the fire and a delicious dinner. Dark when we arrived, we awoke to fresh coffee and the wonderful surprise of beautiful gardens around the cottage...

We stayed at Shangazi house while visiting Tanzania with family during the summer of 2012 and could not have been more pleased. The property is convenient to downtown Arusha and both airports but is extremely peaceful at the same time. There is a main house with a huge terrace, swimming pool, lounge area, and dining room where meals are served...

I was exhausted and Shangazi House was the answer to my prayers. After 19 long hours of air travel from Washington DC to Arusha Tanzania I needed a rest before beginning two weeks of touring Tanzania's "northern circuit". I was picked up by my guide at Kilimanjaro International Airport and taken to nearby Shangazi House -- a secluded colonial style...

Me and my family stayed at Shangazi house for three nights in July 2012. This beautiful guest house, only 20 minutes drive from Kilimanjaro Airport and only 10 minutes drive from Arusha NP, welcomed us with opened arms and we felt part of the family from day one. There is nothing about Shangazi that we wouldnt recommend, everything was perfect....

We felt like we stayed at someone's private, wonderfully decorated home. Beautiful local artwork, fantastic gardens, excellent service and such a peaceful environment. We wish we could have stayed for more than one night. The kids enjoyed the family pet warthog.

What a find this was. A wonderful spot of a stopover in and/or out of Arusha. This wonderfully secluded place is about halfway between Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO) and central Arusha. If you're arriving late or need a day room for a late night departure from Kilimanjaro, this is a fabulous spot. Quiet, clean, large rooms with sensational meals and service....

“There are some rooms in the main house, as well as maybe 4 that are separate cottages. We had two cottages for our group and it was great since we had 2 young kids with us, so there was plenty of privacy and distance for us to run around”
