From our arrival on Christmas Eve through to Boxing Day our stay was wonderful, the staff were friendly, helpful (sending out for cigarettes, rescuing shoes from the rain, and waiting on us hand and foot) and charming. Christmas dinner of roast turkey with a log fire in the hearth made it comfy, homely and we left the table with that...

A natural paradise... Ngare Sero wraps around a small lake- the Ying and Yang platform is the perfect spot to watch the bird life and enjoy a drink. Rooms are local style, comfy seating, great bed. Bathroom with lots of timber. Huge wardrobe...that you walk through to get to the toilet. Sadly, lacking anywhere to put your luggage (or at...

My wife and I stayed at Ngare Sero for our honeymoon and enjoyed every second. The setting is tranquil, amidst beautiful gardens, a lovely lake and a great view of Kilimanjaro (when she decides to reveal herself). Kilimanjaro airport is a 20-25 minute drive. The lodge has a rich and interesting history dating back to German colonial times and is...

After the long haul flight a brief journey found us at Ngare-sero mountain lodge. It was dark so we did not appreciate the beauty but certainly did appreciate the warm welcome, hot shower, and great supper before falling into our comfortable bed and sound sleep. The next morning was magical - the beautiful grounds, abundant wildlife and attentive staff made...

We stayed here only one night, arriving straight from the airport. Although we arrived late in the evening, the staff insisted we have something to eat and put before us a delicious spread. The rooms and the grounds are magnificent. This lodge is clean, beautifully decorated and service is excellent. The staff is friendly and helpful. This lodge has a...

Before checking into the lodge you will have already crossed a quaint bridge over a beautiful lake and walked through lovely gardens. The peaceful and well kept grounds are an absolute delight. We stayed in one of the garden rooms, our room was clean, comfortable and very quiet.. The food was very good, the dining is in groups so you...

I would recommend this lodge to anyone going to Arusha. It's truly and oasis at the foothills of the mountains. The owners, Tim and Katya, are wonderful and kind people! They and their staff were so willing to help on everything! The lodge rooms (I stayed in #8 and #2) are comfortable and beautiful, all custom-made furniture. They have lovely...

This unique hotel is in a very special setting with an abundance of birds, vegetation, and even bush babies. Our room--more like our own home--#12 was very large and spacious. Take time to walk around and enjoy the area. We stayed here our first night after arriving to JRO. Note that there are two entrances. One is a long drive...

I just want to write and say how amazing the lodge was! Our rooms were beautiful, the grounds and lodge were stunning. Watching the monkeys every morning playing in the trees was the perfect start to my days! Molly was extremely sweet and knowledgable-loved getting a tour of the grounds and hearing about the history! Also Vincent and JB were...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Set in lush gardens amid forest and crystal clear waters on the slopes of Mount Meru, Ngare Sero Mountain Lodge is a wonderful place to relax and simmer in the immense beauty of East Africa. The Lodge has been adapted from an early colonial farmhouse built in the early 20th century and it is one of the oldest family lodges in Arusha. It offers only 10 garden rooms, 2 main house suites and pool cottage with 2 bedrooms, and provides personal service for its residents since 1974. Here you can spend the days amid nature, watching the changing colors of the Kilimanjaro glaciers while sipping drinks on the verandah or hiking in the forest inhabited by colobus and Sykes monkeys as well as hundreds of small animal and bird species. The Lodge is located only 30 minutes away from Kilimanjaro International Airport and Arusha town center and it is a perfect base while on safari in the northern circuit Tanzania. ... more   less
