Niyagama house led by German architect and yoga instructor Elke and her Sri Lankan husband is a small piece of heaven to be found in the tea plantation of Niyagama. I can wholeheartedly recommend spending a few days there as the serene surroundings, lush green nature, exceptional service and hospitality make you want to stay forever. The house itself-designed in...

We were delighted with our 3 night stay at Niyagama house. This boutique hotel is set extremely beautiful gardens with an amazing pool area. The staff provided the best service in our whole Sri Lankan trip. Everything is of a high standard and the attention to details shows in everything from the bathroom fittings to the flowers, food and the...

Niyagama house is a hidden gem. It has become one of my top destinations to enjoy a relaxing yoga & meditation vacation. Elke the owner of the house and the yoga instructor is wonderful. She takes care of every detail and makes you feel like at home. The house is in the middle of a tea plantation which makes it...

My husband and I started our vacation with some much needed rest and relaxation at the Niyagama house. Our expectations were exceeded on every level. It is a beautiful resort nestled in a luxuriously remote part of Galle. The food was excellent, we enjoyed the yoga with Elke, and everyone is helpful and kind. I strongly recommend staying here. Four...

Location Fabulous colonial style 7 room boutique hotel, fantastic location with beautiful grounds within a small tea plantation. Not the easiest place to find and extra sign posts with km distance on the very small lanes would be beneficial. Lovely pool. It is primarily a retreat with yoga packages on offer which is the reason I booked it as my...

Elke's meditation and yoga sessions were so wonderful and Elke also went out of her way to make sure everything about our stay was fantastic - recommending and helping us organise day trips, restaurants and everything...

My partner Jeannette and I were initially due for just a three-day stay in late September, from 26th to 29th, then return to Colombo for 5 days before travelling south to another hotel for the remainder of our 3 week holiday in Sri Lanka, but we fell in love with Niyagama House immediately and stayed on for a further 2...

the accommodation, food, yoga and entire surroundings were magical. Niyagama house, Elke and all her staff are kind, and caring and it is a special experience to be there. Will be back for sure. The activities ( walks, plantation tour, cooking class, yoga , meditation) were all first class. The accommodations and all amenities were excellent and everyone so helpful.

I visited this hotel on 21st sept with my husband and my infant baby. After 6 hours of travelling and reaching this hotel in the evening I was simply denied check-in by Mr. Prasad, the front office manager post having a confirmed booking from agoda. The reason given was that I was accompanied by an infant and kids are not...

Dear friends and future friends of Niyagama House, Here comes some advise from the greedy, unfriendly owner Elke: 1.) If you travel with an infant PLEASE check the hotel policies… yes, it is written on pages like Agoda.com or Booking.com, but all the way down after the beautiful pictures of the place in order to sell it better ;-))). 2.)...

Niyagama House is very pretty and tastefully furnished. It is filled with light and good books- I read two coffee table books on Sri Lankan architecture and tea when I was there- and the pool backed into local scrubs was a delight. We loved the yoga sessions, the nap-inducing massages, the delicious meals ( yummy green porridge for breakfast!) and...
