The hotel was a lovely small hotel, breakfast was amazing and huge! didn't think it would all fit on the table. Room was very nice, maid cleaned and made bed while we were having breakfast. Check in was quick and easy and the gentleman on night shift (forgot to ask his name) was extremely friendly and helpful. Only one small...

Had a great weekend at Shirt Hayam hotel. The location is nice- great view of the Kindest, on the boardwalk. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was huge! Got at the front desk free tickets to Bora Bora beach which was excellent (5 minutes drive away, value of 40 Niss per person). I highly recommend!

Let's start with the GOOD: Nice and helpful front dest service, GREAT rich breakfast. Now the DISAPPOINTING: Either the room size r the bed location made it almost impossible to enter the bed from one of the sides without bumping your knee on the wall or the bed. No need to have bathtub with Jacuzzi style jets in the room...

We enjoyed our stay at the Shirat Hayam Boutique Hotel. Our check-in was a bit rocky with a staff member who was not very pleasant. However, it went uphill after that initial experience. We felt it was a good location in Tiberius but it is not possible to drive up to the hotel to drop off your luggage. We parked...

The hotel is small but cute. It's situated on the promenade facing the water but no beach front here. There is a small breakfast included with your stay. No elevator or parking but you can buy discounted parking pass. The worst part was the lack of wifi in my room and the response from the receptionist. I'm an international traveler...

Interestingly we booked before the review for room 10 and we had a beautiful new mattress. Lumpy pillows were quickly exchanged. Although #10 is a de luxe room it only has views of tree branches - we could be anywhere in the world. I understand only the suites have views of the the lake. We paid $280 - lesson learned,...

They graciously upgraded our room since we are on our honeymoon. Room 10 had a great garden view and was quiet. Everything would be rated perfectly except the MATTRESS IS HORRIBLE!!! Please it is at least 12 years old and all soggy. I woke up with a sore back each day and had to go get a massage at a...

A very nice and cozy hotel with charming furniture directly at the banks of the sea of Galillee. It preserved the old style while offering all needed modern functions to a moderate price. In particular the breakfast is great - served at the table but with a wide varity of dishes. But the best is the friendly and helpful people:...

We rented two rooms: one for a couple and one for a single person. The room for the single person ($100/night) was not only substandard but the noise made by personnel at midnight and then again at 2AM was not acceptable by any standards. If we were warned while reserving it that this is a norm for this room we...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Shirat hayam, a boutique hotel, is located in front of lake kinnert and opposite the breathtaking view of the Golan Heights This rare building has been totally renovated using basaltic stones with many arched windows typical of the ottoman style. It was built in 1850 and was enlarged in 1925. The hotel was one of the first hotels in Tiberias and was originally called "Haifa" just like other hotels that were named after cities at that time. In 1946, after the very popular Egyptian singer and actress Umm Kulthum also know as "the star of East" stayed at the hotel they change the hotel's former name to the star of the east as a token of admiration. After the establishment of the State of Israel, the famous painter, Shimshon Holzman, who was a resident of the hotel, set up a big gallery for visitors. Many artists visited, stayed and painted here. Among them were Nachum Guttman, Reuven Rubin and many more including Holzman. One of the most well known paintings of the hotel was created by Nachum Guttman and is called "The Promenade of Tiberias". The hotel since then has been refurbished keeping the uniqueness of its rooms, suites and balconies, enabling the guests to enjoy the feeling of history in every corner at Shirat Hayam boutique hotel. The hotel has kept its characteristic beauty, creating harmonious combination between ancient and modern, giving a feeling of tranquility at its best. Located in front of the Sea of Galilee, the historic building style with the decorative tiles enforces that feeling. The hotel is situated on the Igal Alon Promenade of Tiberias right in the heart of the open-air museum for sculptures where works of art the best artists are displayed. Illana Gur's for example. It is becoming a center of art. What is there in the hotel? There are 11 magnificently decorated suites with a view of the Sea of Galilee. The Presidential suite, Balconies and De Lux suites were especially designed and furnished to emphasize the uniqueness of the place and yet are furnished all modern connivances. All the rooms are equipped with LCD screens and Cable TV. Each of the Presidential Suite and the Balconies Suite has a private balcony facing the lake where the changing colors of the scenery can be seen according to the time of day and season. Most rooms contain Jacuzzi. The Holzman Balcony is located on the rooftop of the hotel and is suitable for sunbathing or relaxation. Gatherings of guests, lectures and professional meetings can be organized with advance notice (Up to 80people), private dinners or other intimate occasions can be held there, too. The hotel offers a dairy breakfast to both guests and visitors outside the hotel. It also offers a spa for treatment and relaxation. Special spa-deals including a day-room are available. The guests are welcome to relax, enjoy their stay and their stay and then leave with a smile and a desire to return. ... more   less
