We spent three months in Nick's Homestay two years ago, and did not hesitate to return to the same place for another three months as part of our winter escape from Adelaide. We now continue to sing its praises. It's a homestay, not a 5-star hotel, but the room is comfortable and roomy; fan and air-con available, tea waiting when... More

Yeah, this place is cool if you want to pay 10 euro to feel like your sleeping in the middle of the jungle. Actually, I have, and it was less annoying. The shower head was broken, basically spraying water everywhere, and the wifi wasn't working in my room so I was offered to sit in from of someone else's cabin... More

Well, pretty disappointed - I am not picky at all and the place is pretty impressive, but the basic stuff is missing: *no sleep: at 5am to 7am the neighbours chickens go crazy and wake everybody up. No chance to sleep on. *no wifi: I had to go out of my room to use wifi. The signal was terrible. *no... More

Positives: Clean room, which got tidied daily! The majority of staff there are really friendly and helpful Location is spot on Tea waiting outside your door every morning, and then there's the option of a basic breakfast if you want (usually fruit & eggs of some sort) Negatives: Wifi was non-existant, despite being advertised as available Air conditioning costs extra... This friendly happy homestay is a value for money homestay for a comfortable stay in Ubud. The quiet garden and nature sounds are a peaceful sanctuary in Ubud. And having stayed in many places in Ubud, there´s no real disturbing cockerels sounds, only birds and butterflies! Returning for the second time, was like coming home as we were welcomed back... OK, so you want the local experience, atmosphere and culture, but when we got there the room was stinking and it had no air conditioning. The shower was right in front of the WC, the only water tap in the entire room was right next to the WC, and even at the same low level as the toilet seat. There... More

This type of accommodation hasn't changed since my last visit 26 years ago - a good thing. Apart from the recent addition of air conditioning and hot water, which I'm not complaining about! If you want to experience a bit of life in a family compound in Bali, stay here. At the equivalent of Aud$35 you can't go wrong. Sure,... More

A real Balinese family compound and the family is still there. Great location close to the Monkey Forest and centre of Ubud. Wouldn't suit night owls as family life starts early morning but there is so much to see and do in and around Ubud and not much night life. Great value for money. I enjoyed early morning thermos of... More

Place is nice, staff is nice, my only "problem" was that I had 3 cockroaches in mine Bathroom. Something that we need to understand due to the hot and due to the place is a big garde. Rooms are big and Fan is more than enough for the nights.

My friend and I were traveling to Ubud and did not book a place ahead of time but heard great reviews about this one other place. We got there and it was all booked. We stumbled upon Nick's homestay and it was so cheap and the area is sooooo beautiful with lots of plants and beautiful Indonesian architecture. The host... More
