Beyond beautiful. The long walkway to the hotel makes it feel secluded and like you are in your own private retreat. I only stayed here 2 nights but wish I could have stayed here forever! A big plus, the breakfast is so amazing and they will bring it to your room in the mornings. The staff is incredible. Loved the location, staying south of the monkey forest is a lot more calm than staying north. Beautiful pools and the grounds were gorgeous and well tended to. Would not hesitate to recommend this place to everyone!
We stayed for 6 nights at Alam Shanti, in the upstairs Superior rice view Villa. Nyuh Kuning is a lovely cul de sac village (ie no through traffic) and very clean. The room was as per hotel photos, however, the verandah photos on the hotel site showed open space. Once we arrived we had enclosed glass verandahs. This was a disappointment at the time, This was explained as a remedy to keep the monkeys away. We experienced the benefit of this mid stay when a monkey came thru an open window and raided used breakfast plates. Next day with the window still left open (by us) more monkeys arrived. I accidently left some $80AUD in my room and realized once we were home. I contacted the Hotel, they found my hiding place and retained the money until I Arranged for someone to pick it up. I was very appreciative of their efforts and subsequent correspondence. It was a very efficient and professional approach, as expected from a quality organization that is the Alam Shanti Group. Thanks again Ayu and staff. Cheers Raymond…
We spent part of our honeymoon ten years ago at Alam Shanti and found it to be a brilliant place to stay. So we decided to go back with our kids this time. It’s still wonderful. The room we had this time looked out onto the rice fields again...simply magical. The hospitality is faultless. The communication from the hotel before we arrived was great and they allowed us to check-in early which is really helpful. The hotel itself offers a shuttle to central Ubud which again is so handy. The rooms are very comfortable and beautifully furnished. Our terrace has two day beds on it in case we wanted to sit, read and admire the views. The breakfast is tasty and such a good range of things to eat (which was included in our room price). Our kids loved the swimming pool which looks out across the rice fields. You can hear the wildlife which we loved. There are too many wonderful things I could say about Alam Shanti and I would recommend it to anyone travelling to Ubud. It’s serene and offers a beautiful, friendly haven from the heaving Ubud.…
Alam Shanti is a true gem of a place. The huge, beautiful grounds are well cared for. The staff are very courteous and helpful. The rooms (more like spacious houses) are amazing Balinese works of art. We stayed in Laksmi and loved our space - the generous patio out front, the sliding windows that opened into a pond area, and the really nice bathroom. The afternoon tea and breakfast provided with our room were very good. We also enjoyed ordering from their restaurant that is right down the road. (Tip: you don't have to pay a room service fee since it's their sister restaurant! Just the normal cost of the food.) The close proximity to the Sacred Monkey Forest is a major bonus, and from there it's just a short walk into Udub Centre. Cannot beat this location for being far away enough from the hustle and bustle of "downtown" Ubud, but enough to enjoy some rice paddies and quiet peace. Our only regret is that we just had one night at Alam Shanti. We wished we had more time there to take it all in! We plan to come back and stay for more nights next time :)…
We had a most wonderful stay at alam shanti. We were in gangga, a gorgeous spacious room. Loved the pool and the garden. We were very happy with breakfast and afternoon tea everyday on our balcony. Alam Shanti is in a great location, a short walk past the monkeys into town, but even better for us was the smaller neighbourhood out the front of the hotel, there was enough shops, eateries, and pleasant walking areas without having to go into the busy main area. We particularly enjoyed the little restaurant Komangs, down near the monkey forest. The staff at alam shanti are all very friendly and helpful, I would be happy to recommend the hotel to anyone, an absolute pearl!
This is a really beautiful hotel, set in spacious, carefully tended grounds with a gorgeous pool. I had the top floor of a whole house to myself, with a splendid view of a rice paddy; the rooms were very well appointed and kept to a high standard throughout. Excellent staff made this a memorable stay. The hotel is close to several attractions and restaurants. It does not have a food outlet as such, but breakfast and afternoon tea (with cake) are included in the price. Both were excellent. In the dining area is a helpful file containing notes about such things as Balinese architecture and customs. You have the choice of meals in your room/villa or at reception. I had a lovely time here and would go back any day, but be aware that some of the accommodation (mine included) is a long walk from reception, where taxis drop you off, and that the house where I was lodged had no lift. It’s not an ideal set-up for infirm guests.…
This was our third stay over 10 years and the standard was as high as previously. The gardens and rooms were amazing, the breakfasts excellent and the staff were just as friendly and helpful. My only sadness was that although the Alam Shanti was a haven of tranquility, Ubud was a bit of a zoo in the evenings and the rice paddies behind the property were something of a building site.
I cannot wait to get back to the beautiful Alam Shanti in Ubud. Located on a quiet street, close to the Monkey Forrest, it is just a 15min walk cutting through the Forrest, into the township, a quicker moped in or a 10min drive by car or the complimentary hotel shuttle The staff at Alam Shanti are beautiful, friendly souls who bend over backwards to make you feel welcome, catered to and safe. The price you pay here is very reasonable and I can highly recommend the Saraswati suite that I stayed in. The rooms are cleans, the gardens well maintained and the pool clean and ready for you! I would go back in a heartbeat...and intend to.
The location is tucked away behind the Monkey Forest in Ubud. 10 minute walk to the main streets but tranquil and quiet. The rooms are enormous and architecturally stunning. The staff is super friendly and attentive. Part of Alam Group of hotels and restaurants, so very professional and capable staff. Very intimate and romantic setting. I can’t say enough about how great this place is.
Stayed 3 nights of a 2 week visit to Bali. Without hesitation the most peaceful resort of all the places we stayed in Bali. Other resorts were almost 3Xs more expensive than Alam Shanti and a fraction of the quality. Off the beaten path, in a quiet village, but within short walking distance to Monkey forest and restaurants. Very large and well appointed rooms with lovely rice paddy views and artistic touches. Breakfast is to order and delicious. The resort grounds are well kept and interesting art is around every corner. The staff are friendly, professional, and helpful. There’s a free private car/shuttle to town. Close to main Ubud, but outside of the congestion and traffic. Would absolutely stay here again on another trip to Ubud area.
