I cannot recommend Alaya Ubud highly enough. I came here 10yrs ago to have a massage at Dala Spa, it was the best massage of my life. I promised myself to come back one day & stay at the hotel. It didn't disappoint. The boutique hotel is beautifully designed, spacious & clean rooms. Every time I needed something, staff were there to help immediately. And of course, I had multiple massages. Food is good too. Highly recommend!

This hotel is absolutely dreamy and we could not recommend enough. The rooms are perfect and the breakfast buffet with al a carte menu option tempts you out of them. All of the staff at Alaya are incredibly friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much for them and they great you warmly at every occasion. The pool are is clean and tranquil whilst a few steps outside and you’re in the middle of Ubud.

As a solo female traveller, this met my requirements of a comfortable and safe hotel with modern amenities. The room had plenty of space to be inside or on the balcony enjoying the greenery view. The pool area had options of being in the sun or shade which I love. The staff were friendly with a twice a day housekeeping service ensuring my room was always stocked and clean. The location of a 5 minute walk to The Yoga Barn was perfect with my own self retreat program. I loved that I was able to walk out and be straight in Ubud for food, massages or anything I needed. My only improvement would be to have more lower dumbbell weight options in the gym. The lightest dumbbell weight was 8kg and as a generalisation female physiology cannot lift as heavy weights as males. Options of 4-7kg for my upper body workout would have been of benefit.

Stayed here for only 3 nights as last part of our vacation around Bali. Great location with plenty of restaurants, shops close by. Room was very spacious, clean, only downside for me personally is little to dark/old traditional fashioned (dark wood furniture) but well laid out. Great terrace and good facilities in the room. Separate Shower and huge round bath, both very clean and good functionality. Bottled water supplied and replenished without any issues. Food in restaurant was very good and the staff so amazing and friendly, very eager to please and ensure all your needs met, special mention to Sumi she was outstanding. Pool area very good, no issues for loungers/towels etc and good waiter/waitress service provided. Location we found out for us was very good, literally 10 mins walk (slow) to monkey forest, supermarket less than 5 mins away. If coming back to Ubud area would certainly use this hotel again without hesitation.

An amazing resort. Excellent food, location, spa, staff, quality of service and cleanliness. The staff went above and beyond when my friend had a lost luggage situation to support her. Nothing to complain. Thank you Alaya for the exceptional experience. Can't wait to be back :)

It is one of the oldest resorts in Bali, but we are surprised at how well it was maintained all these years. Well done. Massage packages were affordable, unlike Singapore. Lush landscape and nature inclined were very soothing during our stay.

This review is long overdue!!! I had the BEST experience I could have ever prayed for thanks to the friendliness and ambience of this resort! I traveled to Bali for a women's retreat and this was a huge trip to be physically solo on. By the grace Of Holy Spirit I chose the best place to stay. I felt safe when I walked into the room. My anxiety disappeared completely. The staff was beyond sweet and friendly. If I ever come back to Bali with my family we will definitely be staying at this resort. The rooms are beautiful, they are super clean and comfortable. The staff truly cares about the guests. The food from their restaurant is to die for too!

Hands down - this is a fantastic place to stay while in Bali. Ubud is an amazing city and a much closer jump to the rice terraces, waterfalls, lakes and temples than the southern part of the island. Tonight is our second night at Alaya. We arrived yesterday around 2pm after a 3.5 hr flight Austin to Los Angeles, 4 hour layover, 17.5 hr flight on Singapore Airlines to Singapore (side nite later) and then literally walking off of the plane in Singapore to get onto their affiliate SCOOT to fly to DPS, Bali. So we were kinda wiped yesterday when checking in. We basically had a drink at the restaurant and went to bed. We planned to swim later - but their pools close at 7pm. Today, we woke up for breakfast and overslept! We had 10am massages at Yoga Barn next door. The breakfast is amazing here - we only had 10 minutes. They even made me an iced coffee Togo! They accommodated us immediately - meaning a lightning speed omlete for my husband (I dislike eggs). After our 90 minute hot stone massages at Yoga Barn, I sunblocked up and went to the pool. My husband napped. Their two pools are great - I think maybe 80 - 82F water temp, they are perfect for a humid day. I finally convinced my husband to join me at the pool after 2 hours. We had fish and chips on the small plate menu - I think it was sea bass and 4 USD each! These were full-size meals. I'm hoping to attach a picture. We left the pool prior to a storm - it was forecasted and evident. The staff actually wanted to walk us back with umbrellas. Yeah - I can handle rain! The staff is amazing here. They are truly service first. Ok, so the mixed: if you're like us and actually tech savvy even though we are 50 and 68, pay attention that you have to scan QR codes to get menus, etc. Your phone is used to cast (this is a huge plus to me - I have pretty much all of them). I saw they have a local TV lineup , but my Max, Apple, Hulu, Netflix all work. I'm sure the rest work too. The staff speak English but it's limited. If you want or need something unusual, it might get lost in translation. For example, for three meals I've ordered, I've listed that I'm allergic to mushrooms, and I strongly dislike onions. My in-room dinner tonight had onions. I called and had a replacement within 20 minutes. They mixed it up because my lunch had something with onion sauce on the side. That was fine- I'm not touching it. The bottom line - my new meal arrived in 20 minutes! Ok, some things for improvement, and then I'll go to fantastic stuff Improvements: We booked the larger room about 8 months ago. I didn't book through the hotel directly. I didn't know our room on floor 3 didn't have an elevator. I also didn't have an option of floor choice when booking. The main lobby is floor 2, so it's two flights down to the pool from building 3 where we are. My husband is 100% VA disabled from a broken back. Stairs are problems. (Staff bring all luggage, so if you are OK with stairs but not 22 kg bags, you're fine) Alaya started looking for another room for us, but my husband loved the room location, so we are dealing. Bottom line- no elevators in buildings 2 or 3. Also, many of the stairs don't have handrails. The pools close at 7pm. If you're like me and want to tour during the day, eat dinner and then relax in the pool for a couple hours after Dinner - no luck. Now to the fabulous: staff are insanely attentive and nice - not the fake nice. The grounds and room are amazing. My husband and I love the deep soaker bathtub for two, the large deck with daybed and seating area, the AC in room works great. Also, no one will believe me, so try it - call the front desk and order a bucket of ice. It will show up in about 5 minutes.
