This was our 3rd hotel stay, we started at Four points in Kuta, then Sudamala in Lombok then to Alaya in Ubud. Atheistically the hotel looks nice, the rooms are a good size with nice decor and the pool areas are very appealing, that’s where the good points end. The breakfast is sub par for a 5* hotel (the pastries are also left out in the open, there were flies on them…) the service isn’t exceptional quite slow to be fair. Also a pivotal moment came for this review when we asked for late checkout, they advised we could have the room until 13:00 but the key stops working at 12:00, we enquired about paying for a late check out and was advised 1.2 million Rupiah. I thought this seemed quite expensive seeing as we wanted to check out no later than 18:00 (4 hours extra in total) so I went online and to book a room direct with them for the whole night it was 1.2 million rupiah… they wanted to charge us the same amount for the whole night and we only wanted an extra 4 hours, I could understand if they were just full and needed the room but the hotel doesn’t even seem that busy, they do however offer you a common use room for a shower. I think the first two hotels superseded our expectations and set the bar for our holiday, this particular hotel fell below it.

Pro: Very good location! Good size of room, there’s bath tub and balcony. Strangely very similar design to Adiwana hotels. Good size pool & there’s kids pool too. Breakfast is great. Service is good! Con: Hard to find one Will we come back? Honestly it didn’t give us the WOW factor. It was all nice but nothing that makes us feel we gotta come back. Located just in heart of Ubud, walking distance to Monkey Forest, and a huge option of restaurants and cafe nearby. The hotel has 2 pools, not too big but decent enough to swim and chill. It also surround with rice paddies that makes the hotel even more beautiful. The interior is a bit rustic and natural, but its well maintained. Some downside is that this hotel need to be more detail in the cleanliness, since it use a lot of bamboo material in the interior. But overall its okay. And if you love yoga, Yogabarn is just 4 minutes away, and there a very nice restaurant called Manisan inside the hotel. This is also highly recommended! So if you want to stay at a nice hotel in the heart of Ubud, this is definitely the place

Went here with my hubby, had lots of fun! The front desk is quite busy too but they managed to try getting ourselves checked in. The bellman Arjawa is really helpful on explaining the hotel needs and amenities we might need. Widi the receptionist is really nice, she managed to get me a check out bit later due to my body ache! The therapist Kanti and Ratih is also really professional on taking their jobs! Loved everything about this hotel and surely will be back soon!!

Location is very good. Room is quite spacious. But room is a little bit smelly, apek, due to long time no use. Overall is quite OK. But another thing, I think the hotel rate is quite expensive, not value for money. The No. 1 selling point is location. Other then that, I just feel that it is so-so, not so special. Not so special, compare to the price that we have to pay.

This is our second time staying at the Alaya and it was as wonderful as always. Not only is it 5 minutes walk from the Yoga Barn, the staff, rooms, beds (we bought the same Spring Air mattress after staying here last year) and pool area is fabulous.

My husband and I stayed 4 nights at Alaya during part of our honeymoon and it was AMAZING. The staff kindly gave us a free upgrade when they found out we were on our honeymoon! The suite was so spacious and comfy. I loved the huge bathroom, which had a big shower and a hot tub in the middle. We also had a serene balcony. The breakfast was so delicious, you could either grab breakfast at the buffet or order a breakfast meal from a menu (surprisingly we liked this more than the buffet). So many people i know who have been to Bali complained about hotel breakfasts, but for us we looked forward to it every morning! We came late once and the staff was super nice about it and didn’t mind at all. The staff are so so accommodating, always willing to help, always smiling and asking us if we need anything. And the location! Perfect! You walk out onto the street and you find a bustling main street with cafes, restaurants, gift shops, massage parlors and everything. You walk back into the hotel and suddenly you’re in a calm relaxing oasis. So many small things that make this place feel so special. Upon arrival we were greeted with cold towels and drinks, every day there is afternoon tea at the lobby (free), they sent us a complimentary cake for our honeymoon, they offer a photo session (we missed ours and still regret it!), the shampoos conditioner soaps are all custom make, smell fabulous and can be purchased Thank you so much Alaya! Our honeymoon wouldn’t have been the same without you.
