Villa Pantulan is located just south of Ubud in the village of Lodtunduh. It is a traditional villa compound made up of Living, dining, kitchen, office, bathroom in one building. Three other buildings are the bedrooms lined by covered walkways. Lotus is the main bedroom, 2 levels with sitting area & outdoor bathroom with a twin bath & seperate shower. Rice field & Garden view rooms each with ensuite. the third building, Temple garden has 2 bedrooms on 2 levels & share bathroom. Long lap pool with laying areas in the water at each end overlooking the rice fields. Villa is located between 5 to 10 mins drive depending on traffic from Ubud. In a rural environment. Cows, chickens, frogs, bird noises are heard, but absolutely no traffic noise or temple noise. Option of renting 1 bedroom or all 5. I have stayed here 4 times over last 3 years & one occasion had the whole villa to myself. Other occasions other rooms were rented so it was great to chat with other guests & we decided to have a roast pig delivered for a dinner, whole Babi Guling. Staff can go quickly to local warnings to pick up food on request but for the Babi meal an early notice needs to be given. You can use the kitchen if you desire or staff will do everything for you. Staff are attentive & keep the villa well maintained & do a lot of work while guest out for the day. There is a 2 level massage hut with sitting area, day bed & built in desk. A great space to relax in reading or doing work. Staff will organise massage persons on request. Bedrooms all aircon with ceiling fans & main living pavilion has ceiling fans & open concept all constructed in more traditional style of timber & Alang Alang roof. The villa is like having your own house in a country environment with rice pady views which makes for an overall restful experience in a traditional setting in Bali that captures what Bali used to be & not a new modern structure in an over developed tourist area.

We were on a 5-week trip of SE Asia and spent a week in Bali. I had booked a room on the beach in Seminyak for a couple days and after looking at reviews, booked a double room at the Villa Pantulan for my wife, daughter and myself for five nights. It was the highlight of our trip and the place we enjoyed the most. The place is absolutely beautiful and extremely relaxing. The rooms are spacious with gorgeous views. The upstairs overlooks the rice fields and gives you the feeling of living in a treehouse. The lower room had windows on all sides, each of which overlooked ponds or gardens. There also was private seating outside the room to enjoy. The grounds themselves have many sections, each of which are scenic and relaxing. We had the entire Villa to ourselves, but even if all five rooms were occupied, it would still be easy to be completely secluded, if we so chose. The room's bathroom facilities were modern and we all thoroughly enjoyed that they were outside in a private courtyard. One of my best memories was taking a shower at night while looking at the stars. We toured the other rooms, and one of them even had a bathtub outside with a separate shower. What set this apart and made it really special were the staff. They really made sure things were right and tried to anticipate every need. The meals also were fantastic. We arrived late and ordered set menus for each of us in advance (they also have a la carte items). The food was plentiful and superb. The next night we ate out and it was not nearly so good, so the remaining nights we ate at the Villa. We felt completely spoiled by the food and service. A few notes: 1. My biggest concern when booking was getting anywhere from here. We did not have a car and were a few kilometers from Ubud. This was not a problem. The Villa has a driver who took us where we wanted to go. If we wanted to go to Ubud, the Monkey Forest, or shopping, he simply took us and when we wanted to come back, we sent a text and he met us. There was no need for scooters or cars or taxis and I did not notice a charge on my bill for this service, but it could've been overlooked. I believe the third day we booked a tour with the driver and he took us to some places and we were charged for this, but the price was reasonable and the service was good. 2. Mosquitoes: there are beautiful ponds around the property and I can imagine mosquitoes being a problem, but they were not. My wife and daughter, who are mosquito magnets, got stung one time while in Ubud and this occurred in the Monkey Forest. I was stung three times while in Seminyak, but none of us had mosquito encounters at the Villa. I will note that on the last night, we had a very light rain and the staff burned incense at several locations, they said, to repel the mosquitoes. Apparently this works. While we didn't encounter skeeters, I should note that this villa is located in the country and you may encounter other bugs and critters. We even had a tiny frog hop into our room -- so cute. 3. Roosters -- There are chickens all over Bali. I heard a rooster crowing in the center of Ubud when we were shopping. Of course, in a country villa there are going to be roosters crowing no matter where you are. We could hear and see them everywhere we went. While at the Villa, we heard crowing for about 15 minutes in the early morning and then it stopped and I went back to sleep. The same for my wife. My daughter slept through it. All in all, it really was not an issue. On a sidenote, in the evening, you will hear frogs and other wild animals. This also was not an issue for us. Other issues: Internet: The Villa has internet that works, but the signal in the bottom room was weak and could've used a booster. The top room was better -- the bottom room has stone construction, while the top is wood. I did not check the service in the other rooms. Breakfast: Breakfast consisted of eggs or crepes, bread w/butter, jam, lots of fresh fruit, juice and coffee. The last day they also provided croissants, While this was everything you could really want, I think it would've been stepped up if they provided another protein item, like ham or sausage, in addition. I'm sure they would do so if I'd asked. Overall: I travel extensively, about 60-70 nights per year. In all my stays, this ranks as the most enjoyable and relaxing. It is personal, comfortable, relaxing and very special. I can only compare it with another stay that I had over ten years ago at a small private hotel in Turkey that had a similar feel, although completely different. The size also is great for a small get-together. We are plotting to return with my brother's family to have a small reunion.

This property has beautiful views. We were there with a family of 6 and stayed in 3 rooms. The upstairs villa overlooking the rice fields was terrific. Would highly recommend. The other 2 rooms were nice but the occasional smells (from neighbouring farm) that those rooms faced were not that nice. All rooms had outdoor showers - the kids that were sensitive to bugs and lizards didn’t enjoy that much. The adults loved the outdoor shower! The pool was lovely and there was a TV room with a DVD player that we watched movies in. Quite a few mozzies so bring some repellent. Very good value for money. The roosters didn’t bother us at all but this property may not suit light sleepers. The shuttle service suited us. We would love to come back as a couple to the upstairs villa.

This little villa complex (5 villas in total) with pools and surrounded by rice fields is a hidden gem just outside of ubud (scooter recommended because of the lack of taxis there. The hotel can arrange it for 60k per day). Breakfast is good even if not too much variety but what makes the difference is the service, which is great. They are at disposal for every request and everything arranged with them for very fair in terms of price and optimal in terms of quality. In particular, scooter (60k), rafting (400k), laundry (60k), dinner (65k for the main dish). They have great recommendations on what to visit, so ping them!

A bit outside of ubud, but easily accessible by scooter. The whole villa and the pool is second to none. Never seen sth. like this before. But there is also a downside, which let us leave two nights earlier than booked. Right next to the villa is a huge rooster farm, which makes wake you up at 4am if you have a light sleep.

I loved being in this villa. Yes, it's quite a hike from the central part of Ubud, but simply rent a scooter and you'll get anywhere in a decent amount of time. The villa is very cozy and you have a lot of space to lounge around and relax if you don't want to go into the city. The area around the villa is nice and quiet, so you don't have to worry about some party keeping you up at night. The staff are extremely nice and helpful. I can't praise them enough. The room itself is nice and comfortable. It has a nice charm to it. I had a great stay at the villa and on my last day they offered to drive me all the way to Sanur to the dock so that I can catch my speed boat to Nusa Lembongan. They even booked it for me, so I literally just walked up to the booth and was ready go be on my way to the next place. Thank you Villa Pantulan! I will definitely be coming back.

We spent 3 nights with family in sep2017. It’s a small & beautiful property and very nicely maintained by the staff. Warm welcome and always a service with a smile from staff. The lady manager was very helpful polite and friendly in providing us what we need. Except breakfast time the entire kitchen is yours and you can cook what you want like your home. They serve a fixed menu in breakfast but would love to go an extra mile should you need something extra or little bit diff. If you love nature peace and tranquility and can bear roosters or frogs sound nearby then this is the place you want to stay. Like a home in serenity. Amazing stay and memories that can be cherished for ever. Love to go back again. They have shuttle service also to town center.

This hotel is a complex of 5 villas. The villas are twin. Their bathroom is open air which makes you like living in the nature. In room amenities are poor. I suggest you to bring your cosmetics and amenities with you. Swimming pool is clean and comfortable. You can bring or cook your own food in common open air kitchen. There is no refrigerator in the rooms but in the common are there is one which can be used by all. Breakfast all day same. Omlette, fruit plate, fresh juice and kruvasan. Staff are friendly. Dinner and lunchs are coming from outside on request but not so delicious. If you love to live in nature you are in the right adress. Prepare your self to see Comodo Dragon, different snakes such as piton, little crocodiles etc. Hotel location is full of different animals. BEWARE of MOSQUITOES. Highly recomended for nature lovers and want to relax in the real nature.

Title says it all. Beautiful scenery, staff can't do enough for you, I even loved the frog symphony when it rained! Outdoor showers and the most comfy beds. Wifi was only viable in the communal bit but who needs it when you're here?! Highly recommend
